Sutherland / Sutherlands in Lairg
« on: Saturday 20 August 11 03:04 BST (UK)  »
In 1855 John Gunn married Mary Anne Sutherland. Her parents were John Sutherland of Berridalle and Anne Matheson of Lairg. John & anne married in Lairg 15 May 1813.
Sons William, Duncan, Donald, Alexander, David, Finlay were born  between 1813 and 1824 in Lairg and Creich.
Two daughters  Christy born 1816 in Dornoch and Mary Anne born 1931 in Berridale.
Mary Anne is my G.G. grandmother.
My problem is I haven't been able to find her brothers or sister either in Family Search or in Scottish census.
I have had to presume this is the correct family as the only marriage I could find of her parents  in Caithness or Sutherland was the above
Can anyone help please?     Freda

Laois (Queens) / William Gunn, shepherd.
« on: Tuesday 21 June 11 01:23 BST (UK)  »
William Gunn, shepherd & Margaret Polson married in 1858 in Rogart, Sut. They went to the Abbeyleix area and had 6 children there and 1 in Kildare. The births of 4 are in the IGI but according to the 1911 census they had 7 children with 2 dead. The first 3 were obviously born before the start of Civil Reg. so I can't find them.
They were Presbyterian but may have attended a C.o.I church
If anyone has come across this family I would love to know the names of these children.

Wicklow / William Gunn, Arklow
« on: Tuesday 21 June 11 00:54 BST (UK)  »
William Gunn & his wife, Margaret, went from Caithness to Queens Co. in 1858. He was a shepherd. In 1871 he is in Co Antrim and in the 1901 & 1911 census William, Margaret & son Alexander are residing in 5 Lower Main Str, Arklow. They are listed as Victuallers.
William died in 1911 and Alexander in 1914. 1901 census lists them as Presbyterian and 1911 as C.o I.Where would they be buried and does know of a headstone?
