Warwickshire / Re: Birrmingham feathers

Hello Roy,

This is my wife’s family, and I may be able to shed some light for you.
Regards,

Rick

Feather dealer came from the lady who asked me to ask.

1911 child was Caila of Kings Norton (became Celia) and have those details.
Cant say an exact birth date
1912 child Zetta also as Yetta of Kings Norton (have her details too)

Family Jewish and Silverstein became Silverstone.

This was an unmarried couple with the lady still married to a surviving partner.
Births were in districts of Birmingham, children's marriages and Marys death all Birmingham
So have presumed 1911 to 1957 the family always resided in the Birmingham area.
If you indicate there may be a possible London connection, I wonder if Jonah was also married and commuted between two partners?

Herefordshire / Re: Bate family 1700's Hereford/Radnorshire

I have a John Mort Bate born in Bramptom Bryan 1793 the son of Richard Bate and Ann.
On his marriage certificate a witness is Marianne Bowyer Bate.
Marianne Bowyer Bate was the daughter of Jane Isabel Mort and Richard Bate, a different Richard, as he was from New Radnor.
Jane Isabel and Richard(1) were married in 1790.
Can any one help me to connect the 2 Richards somehow?
I have been looking at John Mort Bate for many years but am now completely confused as his name is obviously from Jane Isabel, but he is not her son.

Any ideas anyone?

It seems likely “Ann” is in error as both baptism entries for William Bate (my 4xgreat grandfather), bapt. 1791 New Radnor, and Marianne Bowyer Bate, bapt. 1796 St George Hanover Sq, have father Richard and mother Jane Isabella.

Contact me on rick[dot]glanvill at gmail if you would like to share more information.

Cheers,

Rick

Yes, and I have a few candidate Jeremiah Hursts I'm pursuing in parish records, trade directories and elsewhere. I'm also attempting to see whether the master engraver to whom he was apprenticed had the status to attract talent from another part of the country, or had a family/local connection.

Cheers,

Rick

Sadly not, just the master and the master’s profession/domicile. I'm not even certain he is originally from Warwickshire.

Yes, Ruskie, I contacted them Local Studies Library yesterday. Also found Jeremiah Hurst in apprenticeship records training as an engraver; he became a jeweller eventually.

Yes, familysearch, hence my desire to check original register. Thanks for the suggestion re Library. I haven't seen the register so wasn't aware what is typical for its entries.

Warwickshire Lookup Requests / Aston Juxta Birmingham marriage lookup – 1785

Would any kind soul be able to look up the marriage at Aston Juxta Birmingham on 15 March 1785 between Jeremiah HURST and Elizabeth (?)HODSON for me?

I have basic details and wondered if there was anything further recorded such as age, status, occupation, witnesses, home parishes of newlyweds etc. in the register.

They are 4xgreat grandparents.

Many thanks,

I have a Charles WESTERN who married an Elizabeth GLANVILL. They were living at Rivington Street, Shoreditch, in 1881. Charles was a porter, and the mother-in-law, Mary GLANVILL, was living with them. That's about it - my main interest is in Glanvill of Devon and London, and Mary was born in Devon...

Interested to see your request for details on the census entries. James BASSETT was my 3xgreat grandfather. Happy to exchange information on them. I descend from the son, William James Bassett. They are, how shall I put it, quite a family.
