Lincolnshire / Help needed: Gladys Rosa Lillian GRAY
« on: Thursday 09 February 12 19:40 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I know the below about my Great Grandmother, however am at a complete stumbling block when it comes to her parents, any help in identifying one or the other would be appreciated:

Name: Gladys Rosa Lillian GRAY
Birth: 6th July 1905; Holbeach, Lincolnshire
Marriage 1: December 1924; Holbeach, Lincolnshire; to Leonard Osborne
Marriage 2: 4th May 1963; Liverpool, Merseyside; to John Howey
Death: 19th September 1979; Liverpool, Merseyside

I have no reference to Glady Gray in the 1911 census, however on the 2nd marriage certificate it does show her fathers name as Robert GRAY (farm worker), deceased.

If you can help me locate & point my in the right direction it would be very much appreciated.

Regards

Keith

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Help translating from LATIN to ENGLISH
« on: Sunday 01 January 12 12:04 GMT (UK)  »
Hi and happy new year,

I was wondering if anybody would be able to help me translate the writings from the marriage document of my great grandparents?  All of the other marriages on the page don't have an additional inscription, so I'm assuming it will give some extra information.

Here is the link to the picture http://ow.ly/i/oPul

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Lancashire / Alderman Herbert Edward ROSE
« on: Monday 14 November 11 09:10 GMT (UK)  »
My Great Grandfather was an Alderman in Liverpool in the first 1/2 of the 20th Century.  He received and honorary degree from the university of Liverpool in 1942, before passing away in 1943.

I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how I can get hold of a copy of his work records relating to him being an Alderman? Or information relating to the  reason why he was given an honorary degree?

Here are his details:
Name: Herbert Edward Rose
Born: 24/08/1877
Place: Alnwick, Northumberland, England

Married: Florence Wright
Date: 23/06/1903
Place: Seacombe

Death: 19/10/1943
Place: Liverpool, England.

Hi

I was just wondering how I'd go about getting crem. records from Springwood in Liverpool? I'm pretty up to speed with burial records, and imagine it will be a similar process? Just hoping someone could clarify please?

Rgds

Canada Lookup Request / Re: John HOWEY Home Children 1911

A quick update, I've now been in touch with BRITISHHOMECHILDREN (at) rootsweb.com who specialise in this subject, and they've managed to find John Howey in the 1911 census, he was living in Carleton, Ontario.  Its a small step but at least its movement

Lancashire / Commemorative medal 1941 - can anyone offer any more information
« on: Sunday 28 August 11 23:47 BST (UK)  »
HI all

Whilst going through a box of old items I came across the medal below in with my Great Grandfathers (Charles Everitt 1897 - 1986) artefacts.  I have looked on Google but can't seem to find any mention of what it relates to in any detail, I was wondering if anyone else may be able to offer any help?

Warm Regards

Keith

Thanks for your help and advice valeriec, I will order the service records I think it will be a very interesting read.  As for his life whilst in Canada I fear that I may never find out any information other than what I alread yknow, he wemt there, he was a child farmer, and he joined the CEF.  However I live in hope that I will one day find a small breakthrough.

Thanks once again

Keith

Getting a copy of his military records would be useful, do you know how much it costs approximately?
