Thank you for your suggestion.  I was hoping to find  online copies of the newspapers.

I am hoping someone can advise whether the Sydney Daily Telegraph newspaper for the year 2009 is available to view online.  (I tried to search but the link that I used said the page was no longer available.)

Thank you for any advice you can give.

Yes, that's one version.  Thank you so much, and thanks for alerting me to the resources available on Family Search.

Gloucestershire / Visitation of Gloucestershire 1682/83-84
« on: Wednesday 20 October 21 11:05 BST (UK)  »
I have tried to locate a copy (or transcription) of the Visitation of Gloucestershire 1682-84. I have found a free version on Google books but as best I could see, it is not the entire book, only 28 or 29 pages.  (I have never previously used Google books so maybe I'm doing something wrong.)

I would appreciate help locating a full online copy, if one is available.  Alternatively, if you have access to the publication, I would be grateful for a 'look up'.

Thank you, Jo

Europe / Netherlands (Amsterdam) Deaths or Burials
« on: Tuesday 09 June 20 12:10 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for the death (or funeral) records of three people who lived in Amsterdam and who, it seems, died there in the years 1886 to 1900.  Their dates of death are recorded in the relevant columns in the Bevolkingsregister (ie population register) but I cannot locate corresponding official death registrations or burial records.

I have searched wiewaswie.nl and the Amsterdam archive sites but nothing turns up.  I would appreciate any suggestions as to why the names are not listed in 'official' records.

The names are: Jan Koeman (? d. 5/11/1900), Grietje BAKKER (? d. 8/9/1891) and Hendrika Keoman (? d. 25/7/1886)

Thank you

Somerset / Wedmore church - HODGES monument
« on: Saturday 14 January 12 01:28 GMT (UK)  »
I have found reference to, and a description of, the Hodges Monument which is reputed to be in the church at Wedmore (? north-east chantry chapel).

The monument is described as a large Draycot stone standing up, with two brasses over it.  The brasses have inscriptions regarding, (1) Capt. Thomas Hodges who lost his life fighting under a Dutch prince in 'Holland' in 1583 (death supposed to have occurred at the Siege of Antwerp), and (2) Thomas' grandson, George Hodges who died at Wedmore in 1654.

I would love to see a picture / photo of the monument.  If anyone is familiar with this church, or knows of a site with photos of the monument, I'd very much like to hear from you.

Thanks

Thanks Helina, I haven't yet come to terms with the pilot site.

That 1826 baptism entry is a strong possibility and you have given me some good leads with the mothers' maiden names.

Thanks Jo - the 'W' in father's middle name is interesting so the entry is a possibility.  I guess I need to try to locate that family in census records to ensure not recorded at same time as 'my' James.
