Just wondering if you ever resolved the Charles Black mystery as I have recently begun researching this side of my family .I have Charles and Janet nee Watson son Peter b.1802. Witnesses at his baptism were James Black and George Watson --do you think they would be their brothers rather than fathers?  Janet Watson's parentage and birth is also a stumbling block for me. Any thoughts ?

I know this subject was posted a long time ago but I reached it via a link on a site when I was looking into some of my HAVELOCK ancestors.

The reason for my posting now is regarding the very detailed post about the HAVELOCK line, as there has been an alteration to some of the information given, following the discovery of new documentation regarding the marriage of Thomas HAVELOCK, son of William and Ann nee LONGBOTTOM.

Thomas married Sophia EGERTON, not Sophia Louisa MARTIN, as was previously thought. The marriage took place on 1st September 1796, at St. Mary's Church, Chepstow, Monmouthsire, Wales. This record has been verified and added to the information held by Roger HAVELOCK of The Guild of One Name Studies.

Thomas is my direct ancestor, through his daughter, Ann, who married Henry WOOLGAR.  I have lots more on the line if anyone is interested.

I hope this is helpful to anyone researching the HAVELOCK line.
My father's grandfather was Thomas Havelock Block b1874 Sunderland His mother was Mary Isabel Block (or Bloc)nee Havlock (Tho' I suspect that's how her Prussian husband registered her surname )  married Sunderland 1859. I have yet to receive their marriage certificate so that is all I know, tho Thomas Block was quotedas being a relative of General Havelock. Any ideas?
