Hi, yes I have seen the details on the Workhouses page. The person I am looking for entered in 1918/9.

Berkshire Lookup Requests / Look up request - Berks Record Office
« on: Monday 15 May 23 12:27 BST (UK)  »
Hi, if anyone is going to Berkshire Record Office in the near future and may have time to spare to do a look up for me, could you let me know?

I am specifically looking for the admission record of someone admitted to the Abingdon Union Workhouse. I have a good idea of the likely year they were admitted.

Thank you, Paul

Hi Erica

FindMyPast has his army service records if John was born in Birkenhead and his father was Benjamin.

If so, he served in the Cheshire Regiment 1908-9

It confirms he joined the Royal Navy in 1909 after his army service.

Hi Fredsboy

I don't know if you already knew this. The surname of Ellen (John's first 'wife') was Weatherby, according to the birth register for daughter Isabella in Q4, 1880.

There is a David McLintock, a lodger, born in Scotland and aged 28 in the 1901 census, who is recorded as married and living at 47-49 Winding Road, Halifax. His profession is "Deputy". Might this be him?

Hi Alan - do you know James got married - and if so, do you have all or part of her name and when they wed? Or are you unsure if he married?

Hi Alan, yes there was a census in Belfast in 1911. Try this:

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/

You can search for Conway Street in Antrim and get results. A search for "James Murphy" and "Conway Street" drew a blank.
