Any update on John McArthur and Isabel Neilson of Erskine? I'm related to them genetically.

Enjoyed reading the above. I'm researching the Mackintoshes of Strone and Balnespick. In particular I'm interested in the generations between Col. William of Millbank, back to the first of Balnespick.  :) Another wish is to trace living male McIntoshes from this line.

Agnes Paterson might be my 4th great-grandfather's aunt. Agnes Paterson on my tree was born in Middle parish, Paisley, in 1827. Her parents are James Paterson and Agnes McEwan. Agnes had a brother Robert born in 1822, and another, James, in 1824 - both also Middle parish. Think I saw a death for an Agnes P. in Glasgow on 11th July 1874 which might be the same lady.  Haven't looked at this death entry to see if it gives her Paterson parents.

I had ancestors living at the 'Isle of Man', Dumfries, in the 1850s! There were Wilsons.

Wondering if my Murrays are related to the "Black" Murrays? My line is apparently that from a James Murray, Innkeeper/farmer, Bentpath, Westerkirk parish. James is the son of a Matthew Murray and Mary Telfer.

Are the Black Murrays descended from or connected to, the Murray Earls of Dunmore?

I have a large collection of family trees for Stewart families on Bute and their associated names. Also trees on the Jenkins family of both Argyll and Bute.  :)

One of my ancestors is Francis Wallace, a gardener in Kilfinan parish (around the 1760s-70s), Argyll. He married Mary Stewart in 1754, Rothesay, Bute. Before that, he worked as a gardener at what is today's Castle Toward. This was just across the water from Bute. His father-in-law, William Stewart, was in Kingarth parish for a time.

I wonder if this is Daniel's grandfather of other relation?

I wonder if this family is one and the same as the John Stewart and Flora Cumming who were in Bennecarrigan, Kilmory parish in the early 1800s? They certainly had a son James.

The above John may have settled there from Bute.

Argyllshire / Re: McArthur-McGilvray

I'm related to Peter McArthur, son of Duncan McArthur and Jane/Janet Landale. Duncan appears to have married twice - second time to Marion Dick. Duncan was born in Glasgow in 1799. This family were coal miners, roadmen and labouers. They moved around the country: Glasgow; Stirlingshire; Clackmannan; Perthshire and Fife.

Ring any bells?
