Hi Tricia, the parish churchyard of Hamilton was closed for any further burials by order of the town council on 30th November 1861. So, if your ancestors died after that date they will not be there.
thanks Lodger.
I note you have Ross of Mull family. Any McDougall, McPhail, Cameron

Sancti may have a photograph to match this inscription -

"James More died 1st May 1801 aged (.)7 years. Margaret Hamilton his spouse died .............. (eroded)  Also this is the burying place of his son James".

Not much to go on I'm afraid and none of the other names match with any of the inscriptions I have.
Thanks so much for that.  Perfect.  If anyone else has MOREs (or soundex) Lanarkshire I wold be happy to hear.  I am doing YDNA for MORE family Scotland

Hi I hope the topic is still open.
I am looking for burials for MORE surname - with spouse Nisbet or Hamilton.
Or if there are only a few MORE/MOIR/MURE perhaps they  could be same family.
Thanks for any help.

my ggrandfather was born in scotland in 1837, susequently came to Finch. He married mary mcdermid there in 1863. His parents show as being alex(alexander?) mcdougall and flora patterson. His given names were hector patterson mcdougall. In the 1871 census they are still shown in Finch and now with five children, archibald 6, john 5, catherine & flora 2, coll newborn. My grandfather was hector donald mcdougall born in 1878. He susequently married and came west.
According to family lore my father, donald gordon macdougall was born in a covered wagon in cayley, alberta on their way to work in the mascot gold mine in keremeos, bc. So far i have been unable to locate either my grandmothers name or the location of alex & flora. note how they used the mothers maiden name as alex's second name. I am only too pleased to be of assistance and hope you may be able to assist me.  thank you for the time, Gordon Wallace MacDougall.

« on: Sunday 09 October 11 13:35 BST (UK)  »
My g'grandfather was a JOHN SULLIVANb c 1837/38  aged 20  in  Feb 1858 when he joined the British Army in Aldershot, Hampshire UK.   On his army record it says he was 20 from Kilcummin, Co Kerry.
His marriage cert in 1863 Portsmouth England gives his father as EDWARD.
I have not yet found his death(probably London bef 1916).
I  have searched for a birth - no luck so far.  He of course may not have been born in Kilcummin.  Is there another name for EDWARD - I believe Edmund but any others?

Also in Army Hampshire same time a Timothy and Daniel.
