Cheshire Lookup Requests / Re: Hollingworth New Connexion Chapel
« on: Monday 31 July 23 10:57 BST (UK)  »

Hello Chris Nilsen

I was interested in your message.  My answer to it is that after looking into where the burial records are kept for Hollingworth Graveyard, I'm afraid to say that I have still drawn a blank. My next  check was to see if I could contact the Vicar at Hollingworth Methodist Chapel on Water Lane, Hollingworth, but first I am going to contact heatherjulie by PM as she has posted after you.  Hopefully she may kindly do a "lookup" for us. If I get a positive answer from her I will post again on the main board.

Regards.

Hello Aghadowey

I am very sorry if I have taken the wrong course of action on this request, I just thought the correct course to take was to post on the County Roscommon Board as my research had taken me so far backwards in time that I was in the next County but not really so many miles away.

I am sorry for any inconvenience that this has caused.

Roscommon / Looking for the Christian name of John Padden and Catherine Clark's fathers?
« on: Wednesday 28 September 22 19:46 BST (UK)  »

Hello everyone

I am hoping to be able to trace who I think are my 4 times great grandparents John Padden and Catherine Clarke.  Both appear to have been born in 1788 in Roscommon, probably registered in Boyle.

They were married in 1821 in Boyle and had one daughter Elizabeth (aka Bridget) Padden born circa 1818-1910.

Previously I was on the Sligo Board but going further back in time it appears some of my Ancestors were from County Roscommon.

I hope I am correct in changing Message Boards.

Any help with this would be very much appreciated.

Thank you very much.

Derrygolagh

Sligo / Re: Looking for the mother of Mary Ann Crofton?

Hello Heywood

Sorry for the delay in answering.

I think that Edmund Crofton and Catherine McDonagh could also be the parents of Edmund Crofton Jnr as well as Catherine Crofton.  I was getting confused as I already have McDonaghs in my line through my grandfather from Derrygolagh, County Sligo.

Thank you very much.

Regards.

Hello Heywood

Thank you for confirming the birth date of Catherine McDonough as 11th July 1810.  I misposted

previously  as 1815.  I am still trying to work out the rest.

Regards.

Hello agan Kiltaglassen and Heywood

Thank you both for the information regarding maps of Brougher and the birth record for Edmund Crofton in 1815.  I am certain that you are correct Heywood in the area of Taunagh.  Through this I have been able to find a Catherine McDonough born 1815 who could be the mother of Mary Ann Crofton.

I will continue to check further, but in the meantime thank you all very much for your help as always.

Kind regards.

Liz

Hello Aghadowey and Kiltaglassen,

Thank you both for your replies.

I have looked for the information on Ancestry but drawn a blank. The family were Roman Catholic.

Thank you for the Website Aghadowey, I had forgotten that one as have not been on Roots Chat for a while. I will check it out.

Thank you for the map of Broher Kiltaglassen, it is the area I am researching.

Kind regards.

Sligo / Looking for the mother of Mary Ann Crofton?
« on: Monday 23 May 22 19:48 BST (UK)  »

Hello all

Please could anyone tell me who was the mother of Mary Ann Crofton born 1841 in Broher County Sligo?

Mary's father was Edmund Crofton born 1815 in Broher but I cannot find the name of her mother or a marriage for her parents.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thank you very much.

Sligo / Looking for the Surnames of Travelling People in Co. Sligo.
« on: Monday 29 November 21 14:49 GMT (UK)  »

Hello everyone.

I have found so many surnames of my Ancestors going back as far as the late 1700's and am almost sure from what I have been told that there could be some family members who were either Travelling People, Gypsies or Tinkers, (perhaps they are all the same).

The areas I am interested in are Ballinafad, Brougher, Derrygolagh and Riverstown.

I would be very grateful for any help.

Thank you very much.

Liz
