Hi John, have only just come across your post. I believe your Grandad Wilfred was my Nan's great uncle - her Nan was Edith Prosser (married name Jones) and Wilfred was her brother. My Nan has mentioned her uncle Wilf a few times actually and your story about him being a bugle player rings a bell.
Edith and Wilfreds siblings were William, Albert Victor and Adeline. Parents were William Prosser and Minnie Carter.
I cannot send you a private message on here until you have made 3 replies to the forum so when you get this, if you reply I should be able to message you on here and will gladly share what I've got about the Prossers.

I’ve had this a few times with my illegitimate ancestors and their siblings. So they have their mothers surname as they were born before the mother and father married and when they themselves get married they give their fathers first name and the vicar or whoever writes down the fathers first name but the bride/grooms surname. So imagine the vicar just says to them “and your fathers name” and they say “knight” (in your case) and then assumes the person getting married has their fathers surname so they write “knight bennet”. Like I say I’ve seen this a few times. Hope this helps.

I’m on a fb group about Bilston history etc and I searched quarries Milllfield road and it came up with a post some one had put on of a quarry building, like a tiny cottage and the heading “millfields road building built from bilston quarry stone, now in the Black Country museum”. I’ll screen shot it and post it here in a sec (hope that’s allowed). But maybe “quarries” in your query was what they called those sort of houses? So would still be on Millfields road but a small house made from bilston quarry stone as appose to the other houses.
