Tillypeg - thank you I will check it out but not sure why they would get married in Middlesbrough

Stan - thank you, she was born in Stockton because I have the birth cert with address.  Both her and her sister where also baptised there.  I can only presume that they family moved from Hartlepool to Stockton and then returned to Hartlepool again

thanks for the Wakefield marriage to Emma Wright, but the birth certificate states mother previous name as simpson

thanks for your help much appreciated

Durham Completed Look up Requests / Completed - Marriage Harrison to Simpson
« on: Sunday 22 July 12 11:37 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find a marriage for a John William Harrison to an Emma Simpson which I believe was in the Durham area and possibly Hartlepool or Stockton although they originally come from Leeds

Sorry I have no date for the marriage but John was born in 1843 and Emma in 1847

the first child Charles was born in 1864 in Leeds
the second child Caroline was born in Harrogate in 1870
Their third child Alice Ann (my great grandmother) was born in District of Stockton in 1872

Although the first child was born in Leeds and 2nd in Harrogate I am not sure if these were to a different wife

I have census records for 1871, 1881, 1891 and 1901 were they are living in Hartlepool, not sure why Alice Ann was born in Stockton and not Hartlepool as the family seemed to live there during her birth year

thank you, any help is very much appreciated

Durham Lookup Requests / Re: Searching Marriage Jonathan Porritt
« on: Tuesday 24 April 12 22:24 BST (UK)  »
Hello Nn

I would certainly say that it looks like we have the same family tree, my grandfather Robert Porritt was a younger brother to your father jonathan and I am also from Hartlepool.

I do have some info that i have resarched on Jonathan, did he marry a Margaret Readman in 1919? Did he pass away around 1941?

The Picken (Harriet) family make for interesting research!

I do have my tree on line which I'd be happy to share with you (and will save you a lot of research!).

Please let me know if You think this could possibly fit and I will send you my email address

I think your right, got to be them.  I'll investigate the marriage in Gilling West further.

It does look like they only had the one child also, who worked and lived on neighbouring farms rather than live at home!

thanks for your help with this one, i have been trying to fathem it out for some time now!

1851 census has them living between Amos Judson a John Grainger then a William North!

I know that the 1851 Census is definitely them and being the same residence in the other census' - Must be the same one?? do you think??

Seems he's a bit of a character is our Thomas!
In 1851 census can't make out Mary's age so could be the same one as in the 1841?

To be honest I really don't know, Gilling is in the same area so may be he could have decided to use this as his birth place for some reason.  Yearsley was such a small place I don't know if there could have been two Thomas Halls??

It just doesn't make sense that we can't find them together so may be he re married?  Could have married Mary Teasdale first??

I am confused!

Think a trip to Yearsley, Ampleforth and Helmsley might be needed - hopefully they'll have somewhere I can view records

thanks again
