Derry (Londonderry) / Presbyterian Meeting Houses In Londonderry
« on: Saturday 09 December 23 17:14 GMT (UK)  »
I've noticed on some of the marriage records the couples were married at a Presbyterian Meeting house. Are there any records for these meeting houses ? Did these meeting houses predate some of the Presbyterian Churches?

Derry (Londonderry) / Faded Marriage record, Can anyone read
« on: Saturday 09 December 23 17:06 GMT (UK)  »
James McKay and Mary Loughry were married 25 Oct. 1855, at the Balteagh Presbyterian Meeting house. I can read most of the marriage record but I can't make out the Witnesses names. Sometimes they were family members, so I am hoping some nice person can maker out the witnesses names.
Thank You for any help!

Derry (Londonderry) / Re: Alexander McKay

I am also trying to find a Mckay connection to Alexander McKay. I have a James Mckay son of Joseph Mckay who Married Mary Loughery D/O Samuel Loughery 25 Oct. 1855. At the time of their marriage they listed Maine as their place of residence. Samuel Loughery lived in Maine and Joseph Mckay (probably b. abt. 1790 and died before 1867) lived in Drumsurn lower. In a death record for a James Mckay age 42, died 14 Dec. 1871 in Maine, the informant was Alexander McKay.
The age of this James Mckay fits with what little info I have on him being the son of Joseph. And there was a James McCay in the Valuation books for Maine North. 1860-1863 James McCoy/ McCay was listed as an Immediate Lessor, 1864-1882 Lessor name James McCay crossed out and occupant named James McCay Jr. written in . 1883-1892 James McCay jr. name crossed out.
Anyone have an opinion on if the James Mckay in Maine is the son of Joseph and if so is he related somehow to Alexander McKay?

I have a  McKay/Jackson marriage which may be of interest.

Jane Jackson, Largy, married Thomas McKay, Drumsurn (possibly Drummond - very unclear) 12th July 1860 in Balteagh Pres Church. Father of Jane was David Jackson a labourer and father of Thomas McKay was Joseph McKay, also a labourer.
This is part of my husband's  McKay family.  And yes it is Drumsurn, They lived in Drumsurn Lower in the Valuation books.  Joseph McKay's widow Mary died 13 Aug. 1867 in Drumsurn, the informant was a Jane McKay, So Joseph McKay/ McCay died before 1867.  I'm missing any information on Joseph McKay/McCay jr.  because in the Valuation books in Drumsurn Lower a Joseph McKay was still listed 1883-1892 In the 1899-1910 the name Joseph McCay is crossed out.
