Thanks David. Yes, that was the conclusion I was coming to.

Thanks. I'll check those out. Yes, it might help.
BTW: I think the vertical bars in the top-left and bottom-right quadrants are intended to be red-and-white only (the gold is just the background).

Thanks. Yes, it's a bit of a puzzle. It might indicate it's fake, but there might be other reasons for the wrong colours.

An elderly friend in Southern California has a large wooden coffee table with two identical El Cid Tizona swords and two identical coats of arms under glass. She was given the table and knows nothing of it's origin. The table itself was probably made sometime in the last 100 years, but I'm trying to figure out if the swords and coat of arms are older, or whether they're recent replicas. They look old.

Can anyone help identify this coat of arms? I think it's Spanish.
The Castle and Lion Rampant are in the coat of arms of Spain, but I can't identify the other two quadrants. The colours are red, blue, gold and white (the image is a little faded).
Any pointers would help.
Thanks

Interesting! I'm a direct descendant of those Abel's! My Dad used to talk of Ernie (son of Ambrose Abel), I have some family photos of Ernie including the one attached. Are we talking about the same guy?
