Your George Lough and Rebecca McDade were my grandfathers uncle and Aunt and to be honest my living aunts and my late mother knew nothing of them in my grandparents later life they didn’t live to far away from them my Granda died aged 60 years old he was the youngest of James and his wife Jane Dempsey there was four living children that survived they had lost Four children in less than a fortnight to Scarlet fever prior to this one year before they lost a young child, and the year after loosing the four they lost another youngster  …..I never heard even from my granda’s sister about them and she was a bit older than my Granda…I do have a lot of photos belonging to my grt Aunt the problem is I do not know who the people are that are in them I asked one of her sons he said he didn’t know thought they might have been neighbours me I believe they must be relatives of some kind I could not see her having photos of neighbours, do you have any photos of your side of the family.   Cheers Helen

The Common Room / Re: What is a pauper

After further research I discovered that the reason for my grt. grt. grandfather being classed as a pauper was that he was blind and unable to earn a wage.... So sometimes it's more beneficial to do more research you never know what you can find happy hunting
