Greetings (sorry, don't know your name), thank you for your response. Are you related to Hannah Hay in any way? I have details of their 4 children, the husband and children of their only son, John. I'm going to attempt to attach a scan (png). If you are related and wish to enhance my knowledge about them, please do so. Patrick

The names of the sons are readily found. Did Harvey and Cathrine have daughters?

(1st) Edward HAY (1765/6 - 1826) NOT born 1761 as stated by many; parents married 26/01/1765St Mary's Chapel, Liffey Street, Dublin. Descent to me.

(2nd) Philip HAY (1773 - 1856); Light Dragoons; retired as Lt Gen; descent

(3rd) James HAY (pot-1774 - 1796); Capt The Buffs died St Lucia, West Indies

(4th) John HAY (1776 - 1798); Lt Irish Bde / Dillon's Regt with French army 1782-1798; descent daughter Mary Catherine ( 1796; d 1865 Midleton, Co Cork; married 1821 Francis WYSE (1796-1855) at Holy Trinity (RC) Waterford.

(5th) Hannah HAY (pre-1779 - post-1810); married Laurence CLINCH c1795; descent 3 x daughter, 1 x son all born Enniscorthy; John is only one with descent 4 x children born Howth, Co Dublin

(6th) Mary HAY (c1781 - pre-1806); married Alexander GRAYDON; no descent

Hope this helps.

If I can be of assistance, I have researched the Hay family of Ballinkeele, Ballymurn, Co Wexford (so, ca 1660 to near current. As well as a writeup I have a details family tree. Login in and out of RootsChat is a pain the in the backside, so contact me via Ancestry.com. My tree is on Ancestry.com ("Pontet-Hicks-Hay-Joanovich etc").

Farmeroman, you are researching same family I am - insofar as my ancestor Jean-Baptiste Marie Pontet married 16/05/1789 St Eustache, Paris 1e, with Charlotte (Marie) Augustine DERHEIMS, daughter of Pierre DERHEIMS (1752-1783) & Margueritte Charlotte  GAUDOIN (no dates yet), the latter daughter of Jacques GAUDOIN & Geneviece Madeleine PREVO(r)T (latter signed a document 1769 as PREVOUTTE GAUDOIN). Margueritte GAUDOIN's sister, Genevieve (1745-1810) was Superintendent of Mrs Pugh's boarding school for girls at Great Baddow, Essex. I have her will from the (then) PRO and a typed transcript. I attempted to attach to this message, but it won't accept doc or pdf. If you'd like to have these, you can contact me at patrick@pontet.com. I also have a (current) one-page tree of the DERHEIMS-GAUDOIN connection from Jacques & Genevieve's generation to Charlotte DERHEIMS who married J-B Pontet (same generation as the Marie Antoinette GAUDOIN (1779-1866) you have mentioned. I suspect Marie Antoinette was one of the two daughters Minni & Lizette GAUDOIN mentioned by Genevieve GAUDOIN in her will of 1806 as being her nieces, daughters of "my brother Antoinette GAUDOIN ...." who owes her "for what she paid for the education of his children, and if the sum can be obtained, I give it to my nieces Minni and Lizette GAUDOIN".

Through you exchanges on this site, you've given me at least a little extra info on this family, so thank you for that.

I hope some of this helps. Patrick

Little Nell, I read with great interest the extract you got from a newspaper regarding the de Rheims - McCormich marriage of 10 July 1860. May I enquire as to whether you still have access to that newspaper and if so whether you would be willing to send me a jpeg scan of it? The information is only marginally different to the actual marriage certificate, but sometimes it is the little things that make a difference. Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

Mona, I am researching the same family of de Rheims, and received yesterday the actual marriage certificate of Henri de Rheims and Mary Elizabeth McCormick - details match those given on earlier response. This certificate is of the marriage which took place in St Peter's RC church, Woolwich, and obtained from the GRO (scan attached). I also have the reconstituted record of the death of his father, Francois Henri de Rheims who died 13 July 1851, former consul, married (strange, unless he married again, as his wife died in Calais 1854), resident Rue de Grenelle 114, Paris 7e. That too I can send as a jpeg. In case you are not aware of it, in the Probate schedules (I access via Ancestry) that for Henry de Rheims dated 22 Nov 1870 Principal Registry London granted to his son and onlu next of kin John Francis Henry (originally Jean Francois Henri) de Rheims of 2 Bedford Terrace, Plumstead. I have today ordered the actual Will - probably arrive before Christmas.

This family is potentially linked my Pontet family through marriage 16/05/1789 St Eustache, Paris 1e, of Charlotte Augustine Derheims (born Calais 26/03/1771; died Paris 27/10/1805; d/o Pierre Derheims and Margueritte Charlotte Gaudoin), with Jean Baptiste Marie Pontet (1861-1849+). Hence my interest. I think, however, you might be able to help me too. Patrick
