Hi,
With the names you have mentioned..
Mary Delany who died in 1909.....she was married to Daniel, is this correct?
If yes, she was Mary Blackhall and her father was William.
The Joseph McMahon, in 1911 census his Father is Jeremiah and Mother is Mary Ellen.
I checked for his birth, the Mother's maiden name was Moroney.
This Mary Moroney was born in Grange Nenagh, this is on the main road going up hill towards Nenagh from Ballina (you mentioned Grange in your post)
All these families lived in William Street.
If you would like all the records please let me know.
Maggsie

Hi Maggsie,

Apologies for the gatecrash into this thread.

Mary Ellen Moroney is my Great Grandmother - married to Jeremiah McMahon. Their son, Denis, was my Grandfather and they all lived on William St at no: 31. My mother, was Mary Ellen McMahon and they lived at St Joseph's Park in Nenagh where my Uncle Gerry, died there in (I believe) 2008.

I do think these are two separate families that lived next door to one another with the same surname of McMahon on William Street.

Maggsie - if you could send over any information that would be great.

Hello,
this is my first post, so I don't know if this is in the right place. I realise your post was from some time back and you may not look on the site any longer.

I am the daughter of one of the McMahon brothers you mention.

It would be great to reconnect with you, if you read this.

Hi there - I picked this up today after tracking my old email address down.

Is it Denis, you're the daughter of? If so, then it would be really good to connect.

Yes it is by Noel Farrell I've found his website and tried to contact him by email and telephone without success I tried to obtain a copy via my library but again no success I was hoping someone had a copy that they were willing to let me have

I am seeking a copy of this book also - I am sure my mother is featured in this book.

Having broken this down from the 1911 census. At 32 William Street, lived my maternal great grandparents, Jeremiah and Mary Ellen. From their five children, Thomas, Joseph, Michael-John and Mary Ellen are all my great uncles and Aunts. Denis who was 12 at the time is the father of my mother, who is also called Mary Ellen, making him my grandfather.

Hi.

I'm the grandchild of a Denis McMahon who lived in William Street as a child. My mother is Mary Ellen McMahon and I'm in the process of having her returned to Nenagh via the Safe Home Programme. Don't know if this helps any of you from this thread.

My mother was born in 1945, * McMahon, in St Joseph's Park, Nenagh.  She had four brothers, Denis, Edward, Jerry, and Michael, who died at the age of two.

I am wondering if any person would know of anything about the McMahon family from Nenagh.  I am moving to there in the New Year as Mum wants to come home!

Many thanks and what a great site!
