Ayrshire / Archibald Cook
« on: Tuesday 31 July 12 16:57 BST (UK)  »
My Great uncle Archibald Cook was born ll May, 1863 in Old Busbie, Kilmaurs, Ayrshire. In the 1881 census he is a brickmaker aged 17 and is living with his mother Jannet Sloan and his father Archibald Cook Ayrshire.    I have completely lost sight of him since.   Can't find a death, marriage, military record anywhere in the British Isles.   Would be grateful for any help.

Thank you monical and bigt.    I believe it was a miners row.   Possible Iron miners.    I just wonder where it was.

Thank you for taking the time to reply - you are all so helpful.

Hi Skoosh

The Ayrshire/Lanarkshire connection ties in with my family history.    They were all coal miners, some time miner and, as you would expect, not long lived.

So where are the three bears?   I suspect they have gone walkabout.    Will need to get my Aussie connections to check them out!

So clever Skoosh.

So it is Skoosh but there is also a name Goudie which is distinct from Goldie.    Thanks for taking the trouble to reply.  I can't believe how kind folk are to offer their help.
 Thanks you so much.

I have an ancestor who's death certificate indicates they died at Riddens, Dalry.   Can anyone tell me where theis was.   The family were coal, or iron miners.   I live near Dalry but have never heard of this place.

I am trying to find the family of David Goldie, my uncle, who left Auchinleck, Ayrshire, Scotland to work in Durham.    He was born around 1896.   There is a hole in my family tree and I would be so grateful for any help to fill it.
