Europe / Upper Austria Records Lookup pre 1900
« on: Tuesday 23 June 15 22:58 BST (UK)  »
Hi all I am still trying to track down my husbands great grandfathers family, His name was Josef Fingerneissl and he was born in Eferding Upper Austria in 1889. His Mother was Maria Fingerneissl and his Father was Jakob Lockinger, i know this not by records but by his British Identity Book which included this information.  If anyone could help or point me in the right direction I would very much appreciate it

Thanks

thank you sandra, the family trees are those of josef's wife's family and it actually gives a lot of her family and a few generations

jane sorry only just saw your previous post about franz/frank fingerneissl, this was his uncle.  Hes another mystery altogether lol, he went to america where he settled in bexar texas. From what i can gather with records i have found is that possibly his wife marie died sometime between 1901 and 1909 because my cousin found a marriage record in early 1910 to a louise herzinger in medina county. he appears with her on the 1910 census and also on the 1920 census but then disappears after 1921 where i found them on the town directory. You would think with such an unusual name it would be easy to find them  ;D

The only information I have is from living family members, I have sent off for his naturalisation records which will hopefully contain more information. I don't have subscription but have noted the various trees containing his name, however I think they are Susan alders family his wife.

hi again all, something that has come to mind is that i am unable to find any records on josef coming to england in 1901. He would have only been 12 so surely he would have come over here with a relative  of sorts. if not where we he go?
