Westmeath / Re: Rochfort House, Mullingar

My Great Uncle, Harry Bruton, was a gamekeeper/water bailliff there at about the same time. My mum remembers visiting him a lot at the lough there up to WW2.

Made the journey to Mullingar about 7 yrs ago, went to Belvedere house and agree, the Jealous wall is very interesting.

My family came from Lynn in Westmeath but apart from an uncles grave I didn't really get very far.

The Common Room / opinions please..

Bear with me here...

My gt gt gt grandfather Henry Caudwell married a widow, Anne Kaye (nee Swift) in 1859. Henry was 41, Anne 43, married Manchester Cathedral.

There are 4 children recorded, all born between 1846 and 1854 ie before they married.

On the children's birth certificates the mother is stated as Anne Caudwell, yet she was Anne Kaye prior to being married and they were really quite 'old' to be getting married in that day and age (not far off being so 'old' myself now though  ;D :-\)

My questions are ;

1. Do you think this Anne is the same person each time or do you think maybe there was a previous wife called Anne too, to whom the children were born? Or Perhaps Anne Kaye and Henry just pretended to be married all that time?

Or

2. Is there any way the birth certificates could have been drawn up/altered after they were married and that maybe the children were Anne Kayes and her deceased husbands but she had Caudwell put on them when she married my g.g.g grandad? If that's the case I am not a Caudwell after all!

Any views would be appreciated, it's bugging me a bit.

Thanks,

Helen

Wow Sue, I am overwhelmed!! Thank you SO much for your help.

Herberts middle name was Bewsher, after his mother.
You have also cleared up my grandmothers name which we weren't sure of - knew it was either Margaret or Elizabeth so it seems it was Elizabeth.

Not sure about the Polly bit - will check if my dad has any idea about that.

Interesting about Gabriel being a Stepson, I wonder what happened to his dad?? I Love this - each answer leads to another question!

Thanks so much again,

Helen

Lancashire / TYSON - Liverpool (Everton, Anfield)

Hi,

Looking for information on the Tyson Family in the Liverpool area, in particular Gabriel who married Mary Bewsher and had a number of children including Margaret, Herbert (died WW1) and maybe others. Seemed to be in Everton district as of 1901 census and were then aged 36 and 34 ish. Looking to find when they married, where, other children, when died, where buried and who their parents were. When Herbert died in 1916 they were in Waltham Road Anfield.

Many thanks if you can help or think you may have them in your tree,

Helen
