Northamptonshire Lookup Requests / Re: Wellingborough Grammar School. 1891

Wow, you have been busy Bryan. That looks quite a long road to take a walk? It is very interesting looking at the buildings via Google Maps.

The building on the corner of Mill/Strode Roads, occupied by Gilmore Vale Ltd has 1898 above the door. So it then begged the question, was there redevelopment after that 1891 census? So I took a look further along the road, where there is a school with Victoria Board Schools above the door and 1895.
Perhaps I will be purchasing a few books to find the answer as now my curiosity has taken me completely sideways into the history of the building once housing the Grammar School in Mill road!
But then, that is why we all get addicted to this wonderful hobby!
With thanks

Thanks Bryan,
Mill Road is the connection that I was after. I knew the school had origins prior to locating to current site back in 1881, but exactly where was just eluding me! Internet is so handy for long distance research!

Also thank you Sandy for the link on Wellingborough history, which I am about to delve into.

My Grandfather is on the 1891 census as a boarder attending;

The Grammar School, Mill Road, Wellingborough. (RG12/1213;Folio72;page7)

Does anyone have any information about this school. I have looked online and until recently thought that it had developed into THE WELLINGBOROUGH GRAMMAR, but recent history of the school on their own website indicates that it moved to its current site in 1881, ten years prior to this census. Hopeful that some local knowledge maybe out there!

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Re: 18th Cent Will

Thanks for looking Bonza, but after checking the handwriting and the context, the previous suggestions of 'ever' do fit with the text and I am afraid that Executor wouldn't fit.
I shall keep the information that you have given though as I am currently doing another Ancestor's will of 22 pages from 1831.
Must say the handwriting is easier in this one, so I am hopeful of completion without the wonderful resources on RootsChat.
Thanks to all for their input.

Thanks to everybody for that one!
'Relict' isn't a word that readily came to mind, but does fit perfectly. I never noticed the dotted i before and i had it down as only 5 letter with letter 'h' where 'li' are.
With help this week, now completed my 6x Gt Grandfathers 1747 Will.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Will need a bit of help please
« on: Sunday 09 June 13 09:52 BST (UK)  »
After your wonderful help earlier this week, I am hopeful for a bit of help again.
This is this last bit of the will, once proved in the Canterbury court.

It reads; ".... by the oath of Susanna Richardson ???? (See picture) of the deceased and sole executrix named in the said will...."
Susannah is the Widow of the deceased and the word used is definitely not widow.
Any help appreciated. Thanks
