Shame, I’ve spent too many years trying to research this tree.  I retired from Planning in 2018

Hi Deidre

I am interested if you made any further progress with James Bolton, I looked for him several years ago, you will see that I am mentioned in one of your posts.  Carol Ellis is my husband's cousin

I used to work for WG, we would have met

Kind regards
Helen

Hi Jenny

I am a descendant of Thomas Henry Morgon, am I right in thinking we have been in contact in the past?

This is very kind.  I can't leave it alone either.

Could you do me a favour?

Susannah Gamlin was my grandmother 1894 - 1988
For some reason the family thought she had a twin, there has never been any evidence to prove this.  There is one sister Kate, maybe they confused Kate as being her twin.  Are you able to find out if Kate had any children, if so, was one called Doreen?  There was talk that the sister went to South Africa and I recall a Doreen coming over to visit.

No urgency, this can wait

Best regards
Helen :)

Thanks Osprey,

Apologies if I was confused, its a lot to take in and also trying to fit it together like a jigsaw puzzle.  I was just trying to understand how it all ties in with my grandmother who is the grand daughter of Hugh called Susan dob 1894 Cardiff

I think this bit pulls it all together

Marriage Cardiff Reg Office 22/12/1885
George Gamlin, Widower, bootmaker, 3 Ivor St Cardiff (father Hugh Gamlin, Builder)
Susannah Burgess, Widow, 45 De Burgh St Canton (father Morgan Davies, Mason)
Witnesses Alfred Beake & Kate Davies

Really appreciate your help, also that of Wozzle and everyone else.

a BIG THANK YOU to you all

Best regards

Helen

PS, my work is only just started, if anyone can add to all of this information, how ever big or small, would appreciate hearing from you  ;D

Hi Osprey

Amazing detail for Robert, George 1844 brother  ;D

However, I'm a bit confused about the other entries

first marriage ?

George Gamlin march qtr 1866 Wellington vol 5c pg 534 with Mary A Wood on the same page

death reg for first wife? Not a great match for age, but it's the only one anywhere near
Mary Ann Gamlin 32 sept qtr 1874 Wellington vol 5c pg 225

think this may be George in 1871, census isn't the clearest and there's an enumerator's mark through his age.

1871 Improvement Place, Wellington RG10/2363 folio 52 pg 35
George Gamlin head mar 31 (?) boot & shoe maker
Mary wife 26
Edward son 3
Fanny dau 1
James Sydenham boarder 55 boot & shoe maker
no places of birth given

Did you mention Hugh Gamblin c1792 had a wife Mary (mother of George and Robert), and George 1844 had a wife Sarah Ann and also Susan Burgess (nee Davies)

Not sure how Mary A Wood fits in?  My brain is a bit fuzzy this morning!   :-\

Best regards
Helen

Apologies, this has come to light:

Marriage Cardiff Reg Office 22/12/1885
George Gamlin, Widower, bootmaker, 3 Ivor St Cardiff (father Hugh Gamlin, Builder)
Susannah Burgess, Widow, 45 De Burgh St Canton (father Morgan Davies, Mason)
Witnesses Alfred Beake & Kate Davies

Hope this helps

Wozzle, appreciate your help.  The website I got the information from is Familysearch.org and  I've found it to be inaccurate - their 1901 census says Wilberton rather than Milverton which could be a typo or they haven't read the census correctly.  Hence I'm trying to verify the information I've got

If you could continue looking I would very much appreciate your help

Helen ;)
