I can add information about Charles Harold Burns  the elder who survived the sinking of the Magestic. He was my grandfather. I have always believed that he was born in Ireland and that his family left him behind with an aunt in Torquay cos he was too young. They promised to send for him later but never did. Later when they advertised for him in our local paper  he would not get iinto contact with them. He married my nan Jane Taylor in Exeter Devon  in 1902 and I have 2 postcards sent to her from the Magestic so must be the right one .I,d love more information about him service no etc. He stayed in the navy reserve for many years .after the war he went back to being a builder in Pinhoe Devon, now part of Exeter. He had 5 children, 4 who lived. My father was also Charles Harold burns. He was known as Harold whilst his father was Charlie.my father was born on 14 september 1904 not 1903, his brother George was born in 1903, Charles Harold senior died in Exeter from cancer in1937 at home in Tythebarn Cottage Pinhoe. Hope this information helps and I eagerly await some replies to add to my knowledge of my grandfather
