Geoff, where did you find James Murphy arithmetic teacher? I would love to know the source. It also quotes it in London, Ontario, Canada (Carlisle Records) where he died Nov 13, 1865. He was buried Nov 15, 1865 but I can’t find out where unfortunately. His wife Hannah and son Christopher then moved to Michigan, USA near another son John Walker Murphy ( farmer). My descendent ( son Edward Walker Murphy) moved to Penetang, Ontario, Canada to be a teacher in a boy’s reform school in Penetang, Ontario.

Thank you so much, Alan.
My descendent would have been Robert.
 My father is a twin.
I do so appreciate the information. Robert moved to north of Exeter
 ( outside London, Ontario, Canada)
and was the local preacher (Methodist). He also had a farm which his son Richard took over ( my descendent).

Thank you so much, Alan.
Anything you can share with me would be appreciated. There are so few Lukers in Canada.
My dad is in his late 80’s so I share everything I learn with him and his brother.
Many thanks.

Thank you for all of the help that I received on Robert Luker. I was able to follow him all the way to me in Canada. I have still not found the last name of Sarah and Betty but appreciate all of your help.
I was able to find the descendants of Issac as well so will also share the information with them.

I have tried your suggestions. Thank you.
Nothing so far but perhaps one of these days.
Ever hopeful,

Yes that is my family. Thank for your input. It is really appreciated. I found all the Christenings:
Ruth-May 1831 (married Tom Slack)
Frances-Mar 1840
Christopher-Sept 1842
Edward Walker -Aug 1845 (married Mary Caroline Abbott)
James-birth-Dec 1847
I cannot, however, find out where James Murphy is from in Ireland and who his parents may be. The same is true for his wife Hannah Walker (according to her son John Walker Murphy's death certificate she was born in Scotland). Their son Edward Walker Murphy came to Canada-my gg grandfather. My trail starts with his birth 1845 in Whitehaven, Cumberland and his parents' names. DNA testing has not as yet helped me find my Murphy family either. I am putting a family book together for my 87 year old mother but I still have some gaps.
Thank you for your ongoing help. I appreciate it.

Tipperary / Re: Armitages from Ireland to Canada
« on: Wednesday 14 September 16 20:16 BST (UK)  »
I was just in Modreeny in County Tipperary, Ireland and went to the old Church of Ireland cemetery. I took lots of pictures. My grandmother grew up in Lucan Ontario, Canada but our family was from Modreeny. I recognize the Armitage name from both Ireland and Canada. The Lucan , Ontario map from the1800's has the name as does the cemetery nearby.
My dad ( Hodgins family) recognizes the name from growing up.
