Hi Mike, I wish to say thank you for your advice given, and I will start another search, by researching the local old Newspapers around the time frame of 1920 backwards, for Oliver was married in 1914, but the Musuem does not seem to have any paperwork about when the painting given to them, and I can't find any will that my Grandfather had left say that the painting was to go where?, so again thank you. It is now a family puzzle who done it?.
Allan  ::)

Hi Mike, I think the size of the painter is out of context, I will find out it's size, but the Research Assistant email me today , and advise me that he open the back of the Painting to CHECK the name of the Painter, the painting is there along with the given initials of G. Longstaff, No O.G.Longstaff as first through. thank you.

Well the plot is getting thicker, for the Painting has been removed from the frame, and the only Name of the frame is ''.G.Longstaff'', so now did Oliver only used his Christen name of Gladstone or is it George, or any given name of G, any idea's, for I am at a loss on this now. Thank you all for any help given or advice.

Yes, to most of your questions, but one step at a time here, I wish to clear this Painting mess up first, for I did not know my Grandfather at all, I did attend his Funeral if this something, back in 1965. So this does not help you out now does it. I will be looking to confirm the Marriage of my Ancestors or get a copy of their Certificate if possible, they were married on the 29 Nov 1806 in Gainford, Durham. England: Micheal Longstaff/Langstaff and Mary Ann Dawson, and 9 billylids from 1807 to 1825 all born England, then I would like to find a Needle in my family line for 2 Ancestors were born in the States, for all I have is one was born 1846 in Brooklyn, and the other one was born 1849 New York, both are on the 1850 USA Census [Agnes & John Hy LONGSTAFF] all this is a starting point soon. And thank you for your help and advise given :)]

I have just got of the Phone to the Assistant Researcher, about getting an Enlarge Photo of the Signature, and was inform that the edging around the Painting blocks out the Letter ''O'', but there is other letters G. Longstaff in the corner of the left side of the picture and some-time around Tuesday or Wednesday next week I will have a photo, also my plans to get over have been put off. Cheers al and thank you for the help given so far.  :D
