I don't think there is any connection but is there a fathers name for John Formby on his marriage certificate?

Lancashire / Henry Lowe
« on: Saturday 26 February 11 20:04 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find either the baptism or marriage of Henry Lowe born c1789 in Ashton le Willow thus I would hopefully establish his parents. I have checked all the obvious parish records ie Winwick and Ashton in Makerfield. Post 1841 the family are in the Haskayne/Halsall area.

He married "Ann" and the only likely marriage match I can find is 21 Nov 1814 All Saints, Wigan, but I understand that the record does not show Henry's parents.

Any other ideas on how I can establish his parents would be greatly appreciated.

Hi. I have not been doing much family history lately so have cancelled my ancestry subscription. Please would someone be kind enough to look up the death of William Lowe, died 30 April 1957 to see if the death registration gives a date of birth for him. The registration district would be Ormskirk

Many thanks

Jean

Lancashire / St Nicholas Liverpool Parish Records

Hi, Is anyone familiar with the records from St Nicholas? I want to establish the parents of Elizabeth Lowe who married Richard Scarisbrick on 15/08/1836 at this church. I know some churches list the bridegroom/brides parents for a marriage and some don't. I'm trying to save myself a wasted journey to the records office if someone tells me that ithe parent information is not inclded in St Nicholas records.
Many thanks

Hi, yes they seems to swap about really. Michael is christened RC but is married (to Alice Travis) at Christ church. Catherine (my great grandmother)is christened at St Marie's RC in 1850 but her brother is christened at Christ Church in 1848. I have checked the burials for St Marie's at Lancs Records Office but no sign of Michael's burial nor at Christ Churchor St Cuthberts. I have also checked the gravestones at Our Lady of Compassion, Formby but no luck.

I have poured over the Joseph Formby and Ellen/Helen Norris but it dosen't match up. There is also some confusion over Michael's sister Ann as you say she is living with Michael on 1851 census aged 20 so birth c1831 This is odd if Joseph (Michael's father) died before Catherine married again (1827) then Ann must be older but haven't managed to track her down.

Hi, Many thanks for this. Yes, I had come across it in the meantime. Catherine, was his mother. She was originally married to Joseph Formby and her maiden name was Cantwell. I have never managed to find the marriage between Joseph Formby and Catherine Cantwell although I have found the baptism of Michael at Our Lady of Compassion, Formby. I have still not managed to find a burial for Michael who died 15 February 1852.

Many thanks for your help

Sheila

Many thanks for theinformation. It is a bit of a mystery. Henry Lowe was supposedly born c1791. I have been to Lancs Records Office today and checked the parish records for that time in Ashton in Makerfield for 5 years around that date but I can't find him. Neither can I fond a marriage for him there.
They appear to have moved to Downholland/Lydiate/Halsall area by 1815 when their son James was born but I have also checked the parish records for Halsall and I can't find any of the children born there. I found some of the children of James and his wife Alice in the Lydiate parish records but that church was not founded until 1839.

I don't really know where to look next!

Thanks for your help anyway

Jean
