Canada Lookup Request / Re: William Jenkins an 1861 and 1871 Look Up please
« on: Thursday 29 October 09 16:47 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

Yes I am interested in both Williams at this point.  They were born around the same time. I think one went to Alberta and the other to New York. I don't always trust the origin or the religion. They seem to change for some from census to census. I will try for the obituary of William of Alberta.

Much Appreciated

Hi,

Thanks. Strange. I could find just one William Jenkins in  Glenelg, Northumberland in 1851. He is a William Jinkins, age 9, a servant, in the home of Robert Mays or Hays. Could the two in 1861 possibly be the same one? He could have changed residences during the period of the census.
The 1871 William you found is not the one I am looking for. My William's parents died before 1850. I found a William in Red Deer in 1891. He is listed as married but the cenus did not include his wife and children. He must have gone ahead to establish the home. The 1851 census of St. Mary's, York, has a Sarah H as the daughter of an Ann McBean. Isabell Mcbean of 1891 is sarah's sister.

Cheers,

Hi,

Thank you. I have been on the New York Genweb site and will go back to it since I now have more information. I believe William senior was naturalized.

Hello Nick,

George Jenkins in 1900 is 26. I should wear my glasses more often. He was born in New York. His wife Nellie or Millie was born in Massachusetts.
His estimated marriage year is 1899.

Canada Lookup Request / William Jenkins an 1861 and 1871 Look Up please

Hi,

I am requesting an 1861 and an 1871 census look up for a William Jenkins of New Brunswick.

The 1851 census of Glenelg, Northumberland County has him as a William Jinkins, age 9, English, living in the household of Robert and Margaret Mays. He is listed as a servant. It is possible that in 1861 William was living in Ludlow, Northumberland County.

Thank You,

Hi,

I just discovered that Ann, the eldest daughter of Alexandre Martin and Marie Jenkins was born about 1860 in Kouchibouguac, Kent County, New Brunswick. Also that the parents Of the Ann Martin who witnessed the marriage of Alexander Martin and Marie Jenkins were a Michel Martin and a Nancy Nolan. This is likely the Nancy Martin, 81, living with Alexander's family in 1881 in Northumberland County..
Perhaps in 1861 Marie and Alexander were living in Kent County. I don't know if you included Kent County in your 1861 census search for Alexander Martin.

Hi,

I think the immigration year would be more like 1891 since he is not in the 1891  census of New Brunswick.  He was quite young when he married. I wonder if he was naturalized. Perhaps brother William travelled with him to the US.

The Charles Martin found living with Alexander and Pheobe in 1901 is, I think, a grandson. I found a birth for a Charles Martin on the PANB Vital Statistics site.
 1882/01/14
Mother   Julie Martin
Father  Not Named

Thanks Again

Hello Debbie,

No, the image of the church record I have for their marriage does not name the parents of Alexander Martin nor of Marie Jenkins. The image I have is from the Drouin Collection. Earlier research identified Marie's parents.

I don't think that the Alexander and Ann in the 1861 census of Hardwicke are mine. Daughter Ann and possibly son Mitchel would have been included.

Earlier today I found Alexander, age 70, and Fubu, age 47, in the 1891 census.

I think Marie must have died between 1881 and 1891, likely about 1883 if Charles is her son.

I have found no trace of their other children after 1881 in New Brunswick. I have a possibility for Mitchel. The familysearch.org site has a Mitchel Martin, born July 1861 in Canada in the 1900 U S census. He is living in Wilbraham, Hampden, Massachusetts. Wife Mary, daughter Mary, and son Wilfred.

Thank you so much for your time and effort.
