Moray (Elginshire) / Archibald Gammie
« on: Wednesday 06 November 13 16:13 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for info on Archibald Gammie died on the ship City of Quebec in 1859 aged 31 (Scotlands People - Maritime Register does not show names of parents) - particularly trying to confirm date of birth and the names of his parents - various family trees are showing his date of birth as 1824 and his parents as Joseph Gammie and Margaret Davie.  However the death certificate of Joseph Gammie lists all his children by 2 marriages and there is no mention of an Archibald.
Archibald Gammie was married to a Jane Hay and lived in Elgin

Can anyone from the Lynn family give me names and dates of William Lees Lynn and Catherine Watt Lynn's 10 children. Any information would be greatly received.
Kathleen Lynn
Hi, your husband Brian is my cousin - his father robert was my fathers brother wiliam lynn. With the exception of the youngest child May (mary) all the other members are deceased. The lynn family are originally from Articlave, in Northern ireland but after John Lynn (william lees lynn's father) died in 1892 and his 2 sons John and joseph both died in 1894 his wife rebecca Lynn moved to Greenock with her 2 daughters martha jane and elizabeth and her son william lees lynn. in the 1901 census they lived at 20 arthur street greenock.
john lynn and rebecca nichol were married on 13/3/1862 at Dunboe church articlave - i do not know why the family moved to greenock
I have a substantial amount of info that i will be pleased to share

Hi donna, my aunt was rebecca lynn married to a tommy welsh and they lived in Greenock houses overlooking Kilmacolm Road- i think it was Lomond Road - had a family of 4 or 5 kids - michael, thomas, catherine etc i presume this is the same family! My cousin Catherine lives in Australia.

If so Rebecca was one of 10 kids born to William Lees Lynn and Catherine Watt --  John, Robert, Andrew, William (my father)Joseph, Rebecca, Martha, Catherine,Elizabeth? and Mary. Mary is the only one surviving!

William Lees Lynn was born in Articlave in Northern Ireland the youngest son of John Lynd and Rebecca Nichol - early documents are in the name of Lynd but it looks like William Lees Lynn , my grandfather, changed the name to Lynn ( John Lynd couldnt write and it is his mark that appears on the birth certificate of William Lees Lynn

The grave of John Lynd,( Lynn on the gravestone), is in Articlave also includes an infant child and two other sons John and Joseph. I have a lot of info on the family tree and photographs which i can send you if you provide an e mail address
