All of those, hadn't until this week been able to find any of the children's birth certificates but with a process of elimination and knowing that the last child, Elizabeth, had definitely been born in Leicester, sent for the certificates that came within the right period stating that the mother should be Caroline. Just one came back with a definite showing the father to be George! I feel that Chalford is probably correct, maybe he said Sheffield as he was living and working near a Foundry and felt that it perhaps gave him a better chance of a job - who knows.
There is a Caroline Rouse born in Grimsthorp in 1826, such a small place and two children with the same name within 6 years - hmmm. This one went on to marry someone else and have children.
The first child of my couple was not born until c1850 which means Caroline would have been 30, quite old in those days.
