This is just do say thank you. I am putting Grabham for Susanna and noting the R/K, f/s and l/t possibilities.

Thanks i think Grabham is even better. I shall see what i can find for Grabham. Not having seen the record i cant say anything about R/K or f/s or l/t and i dont know enough about 16th century handwriting in Puriton. From Dorking records i  know R and K could be difficult to distinguish and that it is often just about impossible to tell if it is an -s- or an -f- At least in later records the mark distinguishing l to t  has sometimes been forgotten. Sometimes the mark has been added to l by mistake. even f and t are sometimes confused giving
Reffett and Retfel for example.

Thanks. I never thought of that. Grabson is much better and more likely than Orabsam. I thought it might be Susanna Or   ...... but couldnt think of another name for her. Id rather have Rifle than Kiste or Kefte though, for Riffle is one of the umpteen variations my surname is found recorded as during its development from R*f*ld to Reffell. For years i couldnt find my gtgtgrandfather'Joseph's marriage.Recently the manager of a project for surname Ruffle told me that though the clerk decided the surname ought to have been Ruffle instead and therefore recorded it as Ruffle my gtgtgrandfather had had been under the illusion that it was Reffell and therefore had clearly signed himself as Joseph Reffell. That was in the 19th century. In the 18th century the brother of my gtgtgtgtgrandfather had signed his will Thomas Reffell but the probater decided Thomas's surname was Refouled. It might be because Thomas' brother Joseph is found as Refeild at one of his marriages and that my earliest ancestor is found probated as a Roger Reffeild alias Reffeld. and i think they are related to records in the same farming place for people found as Riffield.I am also yDNA matched to at least one Ruffell in Hampshire. but descendants of some at times Reffell people opted for Reffold instead in Hampshire. Some of my grandfather's contemporary relatives opted for Reffelle.  My brain is too old to manage all the confusion.

Somerset / ORABSAM, Puriton parish, 1580 marriage

Hello, Please would you help me with the following? I believe a Roger transcribed as "RIFLE" or "RIFFLE" is an ancestor of mine. At the parish of Puriton he married someone I have found transcribed as Susanna ORABSAM  22 January 1580. I have not been able to find any records for anyone else with surname ORABSAM so I think it is incorrect. Though I have tried I have not been able to find any online information on Puriton marriage records 1580. Thank you in advance for your kind help.
Best regards,
Edwin
