It would appear we have a bit of a name change, re 1921 census. George Andrews married Ada FAVELL in 1903 Southwell. Her (Ada's) daughter Elizabeth birth

FAVELL, ELIZABETH       -
GRO Reference: 1895  M Quarter in SOUTHWELL NOTTS  Volume 07B  Page 465

Whilst Elizabeth records she is married I cannot find a marriage to a Fable

John
Thank you.  Yes, the name changes are confusing, I found Elizabeth's sister was registered at birth as Fabell. Ada is Fable in the 1901 census while her daughters are Favell and are with thier grandparents but posing as daughters.

There is an entry for an Ethel Fable (Transcribed as Table on FindMyPast) living with 'grandparents' in 1921 in the right area that needs investigation

ADDED
Another grandchild in the household
Births Dec qtr 1918
Fable    Horace    mmn Fable
 Newark    7b   729

and Ethels entry
Births Dec qtr 1917
Fable    Ethel   mmn Fable
Newark    7b   705

Interesting, that's the first hint that any of these nine births are related.

The birth certificate would indicate if she was a 'foundling'

ADDED
GRO website index does not show mothers maiden surname but freebmd shows it as Fable

I am looking at nine similar births and have ordered a birth certificate but it hasn't appeared yet.
Thank you

I'm still waiting for it
Being outside the UK and 1961 certificiates not being available for online ordering of PDF's  makes things difficult.

I would be very grateful for any information on Ethel Fable.
I think she was a foundling, her birth was registered in Newark, Notts.  In the 1939 register, Ethel Fable (born 27th August 1917), was a patient at the National Institutions for Persons Requiring Care and Custody, Whittington Hall, Old Whittington, Chesterfield.  She is recorded (as were virtually all patients) as an Incapacitated Inmate.
The death of Ethel Fable, aged 43, was registered between July and September 1961 at Chesterfield, Derbyshire.  Was she discharged before her death or did she die in hospital?   The National Archives state that the records are held at Matlock.
Thanking you in anticipation
