Thanks Sinann. Have gone through the Cork site. Found William b. to Timothy Hegarty and Ellen Donovan 1845, but nothing more. Many of the records have not stood the test of time.

My fault. Tim who married Ellen Donovan is father to John, William, Daniel.  John gets the farm in Fahouragh, marries Ellen Sullivan, had 7 sons and 1 daughter.  The youngest son, Denis, is a twin and my grandfather.  Yes, this is the John in 1901 census. The Patrick in the 1911 census is the son who got the farm on John's death in 1905.  Hope this clarifies it.

Have copy of 1851 census request by Daniel Hegarty of Fahoura as to his age.  He states his parents as Timothy Hegarty and Ellen Donovan. I think Timothy was at Laherdane before going to Fahoura prior to Griffiths in 1850s. At Timothy's son John's funeral in 1905, two other brothers of John's were mentioned- Daniel and William. Know nothing of Ellen Donovan. Would appreciate any help tracing her background or John's other family members believed to have been 7 boys and a sister. John and Ellen Sullivan also had 7 sons and one daughter.
Any help greatly appreciated.

John McCarthy my ancestor from Reen was also described as a labourer in Griffiths.  His son, Tim, who married a Hallihane was a labourer, but also a fisherman as many in that area were. Fishing was seasonal and needed other forms of support. He was also in the Royal Navy and merchant navy. I suppose what I am saying is that the word "labourer" does not necessarily tell the whole story of what people did during the Famine.

Checked 1901+1911 census. 1911 Jeremiah 70 married to Johanna Hegarty 60, married 51 years. 7 children born, 6 alive.  Their son Jeremiah and his wife living with them. Check National Archives/ census, hit browse Cork/ Castlehaven/Kilderry ( variously spelled. Also check out churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie for Castlehaven/ various spellings on Kilderry. I found children for Jerry Driscoll and Johanna Hegarty. Also children for Patrick Driscoll and Ellen Spillane.

Hope this helps,

Hello Miggs,

You will find info on Hegartys of Laherdane in the 1901 and 1911 censuses. I would guess that Nora followed some of her brothers out to Montana.  My grandfather, Denis Hegarty, was from a large family in Fahouragh, not far from Laherdane.

just happened to see this in passing as I read Southern Star for Sat. March4, 1916. Death of Mrs. Nora Weidenfeller at her residence, Deer Lodge, Montana, on 14 jan, heard by her relatives in Skibbereen.  She was the daughter of Denis Hegarty, Bluid. She emigrated to USA 10 years ago and has been married for the past 5 years. She leaves 2 young children.

Hope it might be useful
