England / Re: Charles John DONNE/DOUNE

I know that this is an old topic but I came across Bithia Donne's headstone at the Foster Hill Road Cemetery a few weeks ago. I have only just recently got round to adding the details onto FindAGrave;

https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/195441748/bithia-donne

The headstone is still in quite good condition.

Sorry if you knew this already - I just thought it worth mentioning since this topic came up while looking for info about Bithia Donne via Google.

Who were the witnesses on the marriage cert as sometimes they can hold a clue to the identity of the person you are researching? Also what was the occupation of Frank Maile?

I now have the marriage certificate in my possession. The witnesses were Charles Plant's cousin and the cousin's future husband who were married 37 days after this event. Frank Maile's occupation is stone mason.

JJ

I don't have the actual marriage cert yet. I guess that is my next step. I think it must have taken place in a register office or something because there is nothing in the local papers about it.

Here we go :

Jane Male , mmn Riseley , 1869 M Quarter Woolwich 01D 887

Frank Maile 31 ( father Thomas ) and Susan Risley ( father James ) married 15 Aug 1869 Chatham

Thank you Christine53, I see you have come up with a couple of leads. I seem to recall going down this route before. I think because I couldn't find a Susan Maile (Riley) in any census records that I abandoned it.

Bedfordshire / Brickwall - Isabella J Maile, Biggleswade

Hello,

I've hit a stubborn brickwall that I can't break through.

Isabella Janet Maile married Charles Plant 06/09/1892 at Biggleswade. Marriage record puts her date of birth as 1871 and father's name as Frank Maile.

I have not be able to find Isabella in any of the census records.

Charles Plant died of TB in 1893 and their baby daughter died in 1894.

I found this death record of Frank Maile;

Surname    First name(s)    Age    District    Vol    Page
Deaths Mar 1894   (>99%)
Maile    Frank    53    Biggleswade    3b   263

I purchased the death cert and it says that he was a pensioner who died at Biggleswade. Informant was the certificate received from Mark Whyley, Coroner for the County of Bedford following inquest.

I would like to know more about Isabella J Maile's background, where she came from and family details but also what happened to her after her husband died. Did she remarry and where did she die? It seems to me she has promptly vanished - abducted by aliens perhaps.

Regards,

jcope.

Bedfordshire Lookup Requests / Re: Burial Lookup: WHITE, ≤1845 - Bletsoe

just for the record, George White's sister Elizabeth 1769-1818, was 2nd wife to my gt-gt-gt-grandfather Thomas Partridge, married in 1790.

Interesting. George White and Hannah Noble are the parents of Thomas White who is my 3rd great-grandfather.

George White baptised 27 Sep 1779 Bletsoe, son of John White & Mary Cambers

Yeah, I knew John White married somebody called Mary. Thanks for the info.

Was there an epidemic?

Thanks for the info - I'd guess it was consumption or a similar illness.

I presume these burials took place at the parish church, St Mary's?

Hello,

Could someone look up the burials in Bletsoe for the following two people, please.

George White - occupation = Carpenter/Labourer
Hannah White - wife of the above

Both died sometime between 1816 and 1845 so they must have been aged no older than around 66 years.

Cornwall / St. Columb Major Cemetery
« on: Wednesday 11 January 17 13:07 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

Does anyone know if St. Columb Major Cemetery, Trekenning Road has a map of roughly where each grave can be found?

I haven't been able to find one from the website; http://www.stcolumbmajor-tc.gov.uk/cemetery/

I have the grave number of somebody who is buried there but no idea if there is a headstone.

Regards,

jcope
