The monumental inscriptions at Newenden for Samuel Bishop and his wife Mary Plane are transcribed in item #5 at the following link.
http://www.kentarchaeology.org.uk/Research/Libr/MIs/MIsNewenden/01.htmThe ancestry of Mary Plane is available online an the Weald website:
http://www.theweald.org/home.aspSearch for the name Mary Plane, and choose the one born in 1721.
The parents of Mary Plane were Iden Plane and Mary Gilbert. All the details are on the Weald. Iden Plane died at Newenden in 1773, apparently living with or near Mary and Samuel, but he was buried at Linton. Iden's wife Mary died at Staplehurst in 1758 and she too was buried at Linton.
Also buried at Linton were the other 4 children of Iden Plane and Mary Gilbert, who died early in their childhood.
The parents of Iden Plane were George Plane and his 2nd wife Anne Beeston. Both were buried at Linton, George in 1712 and Anne in 1739.
The first in the family to be buried at Linton seems to be George's daughter Martha by his 1st wife Martha Smith. Martha jnr was buried at Linton in 1706, where she had actually been living. There must have been a family burial area created at Linton.
The Weald traces the ancestry of George Plane back to Wyat Plane and Rebecca Jones, who married at Hadlow in 1570.
The ancestry of George Plane on the Weald has been based on the Plane pedigree in a book entitled "A Genealogical Record of the Families of King and Henham, in the County of Kent", printed in 1899.
I used to be able to find this book online at the following link, but now I am having trouble. Perhaps it is just my computer.
http://memory.loc.gov/master/gdc/scdser01/200401/books_on_film_project/PSCLOC_BF013/PDFs/20070601065geEach PDF in the folder is a page in the book. The Plane pedigree page is PDF 30.
Alternatively if I Google the book's title it now sees to be on the ancestry website.
Anyway if you find the book, in PDF 29 there is memorandum that supposedly shows that Rebecca Jones was the daughter of Jasper Iden of Yalding, and so traces the ancestry even further back. I looked closely at this and decided that it was all nonsense, and I advise you not to accept it uncritically.
I hope this helps - sorry I don't have anything on the Bishop family itself.
