Carmarthenshire / Re: Evans Carmarthenshire

HI
I am looking for a Benjamin Evans born abt 1820"s his wife was Elizabeth Morris. it says his birth place was Llanloidy? in the 1861 census there is a Benjamin with wife ELizabeth. he is age 43 and a farmer of 26 acres. My line comes from their daughter catherine evans who marries a John JOnes also a farmer but he is in Llanguick town Mawr in the 1861 census. John Jones is alot older then Catherine when they marry and he could possilby already had two wifes. IN 1861 his wife is Jane? Catherine is shown as the servant and he is a widow in 1871.
I have nothing else on Benjamin and his family.
Please advise if anyone knows who this Benjamin and wife Elizabeth Morris are.

HI JUlie
I found my John Jones lived in Glais! He was listed in 1881 census with his wife Catherine and his one daugher Rachel. It will be interesting to see if they connect somewhere along the way. You said you person was born in 1841? I will go back and look.
My John was supposedly born 1811 or 12 maybe he a brother or uncle to your Jones? Keep me posted. Send all the info you have on them so far and I will watch for their names too

HI JUlie
I haven't gotten to far into the Jones yet. I am on the trail though.
I have found someone from this site that is looking into somethings for me. The people are so nice from these chat sites I love it. If I find more on the Jones and see any Anns I will let you know. Do you have street addresses from where she had been living in the census? I have been looking on the pages before and after the ones my relatives are on looking for other family members. I did find a few of the same name and maiden names to some relatives by doing that. Haven't had time to connect them yet. My John Jones was born abt 1812 or 1811. Haven't much on him except his census from 1861 until he dies somewhere before the 1891 census. I don't know who he is related to except one wife is listed as Jane? He has two daughters Hannah and Rachel who are years apart which makes it look like he may have had another wife before her and our relative is the wife after (catherine Evans)
alot of the Jones come out of Carmarthenshire area so may look there. I will get back to you if I find any Ann's
Are you here in the states?

HI
So Happy to hear from someone who lives in Pontardawe. Okay I will give you the low down!
My grandma was born there in Pontardawe Oct 25 1909 her address was 59 High Street. When she went back in 1979 she went to the address to take a picture and a lady came out and I am told she was a relative. I am guessing in your country houses must be past to relatives? In the 1881 census our great great grandfather lived at 32 James st it says Llanquick Glamorgan.
My grandmas parents were John Jones born May 8 1882 his father was David Jenkins born abt 1838 and married to Dianah (Dinah Lake) they say marriage was 1862 but I found them in the 1861 census and they were already married and living at #23 Maesiago Llanquick parish. in the 1861 census there is a William Jenkins and wife ELizabeth living on the same street #19 Maesiago and a Ann Jenkins widow at #21 Maesiago so I think they could be tied together.
My grandmother mother was Mary Beatrice Jones. Her mother was Catherine Evans and supposedly born Aug 17,1852 don't think it is right but not sure. Her parents are supposedly a Benjamin Evans and a Elizabeth Morris. My aunt who gave me the names and dates of course can't remember where she got that info???
Mary Beatrice is right and I found her and her sister listed with ther mother Catherine Evans Jones in the 1891 census. Catherine is a widow at this time.
I found Catherine Evans as a servant to John Jones in 1871 census and it lists her birth abt 1847? anyway John Jones at this time is a widow and has two daughers a Hannah age 17 in 1871 and Rachel age 5 in 1871. In the 1861 census it list a Jane Jones with him and these two daughters. I am thinking there may even have been anothe wife since Hannah is so much older then Rachel.
So that is all that I have on the family there. My dad and I think my grandma said something about family in Pontardawe owning a pharmacy or store of some kind. I think when my dad went in 1990's they had sold it but the people knew who our family was and sent him to there home. He has pictures of a cousin to my grandma and her name was Rae (Ray) she looked just like my grandma. I think when he went this Rae was in her 80's or so.
My fathers name was Raymond Comer in case for some weird chance you met him when he was there. I am waiting for my brother to send me those pictures of my fathers trip. Hoping there are some names and places that might help.
Thanks again for writing to me, you can send email to my regular address
