There was a Midway farm in Gorton according to some records but when should we stop speculating?
If you gave more details, Altyrocket, e.g. a name to check in censuses and burial records, an age and the name of the informant, it might help to find the place.
The informant was Joseph Ogden his residence was also Midway Openshaw. The deceased was my 3rd Great grandmother Eliza Wallwork (nee Howarth). I have census information, but not any burial information.

I get the feeling this is some sort of institution (not Workhouse, checked that out) as the reportee for the death was not a family name I am aware of, also there were close member family members still living in the area.
This has posed more questions than answers !
