Worcestershire Lookup Requests / Re: Death/Burial Sophia Davis
« on: Thursday 25 April 13 23:43 BST (UK)  »
Thanks so much Phil - shall keep note of this info and see if it fits somewhere in my tree.

I think Sophia's maiden name was Brookes/Brooks - have not absolutely confirmed this. There is a marriage of Sophia Brooks and Thomas Davis at St Swithun's, Worcester on 30 Aug 1825 (Source LDS site) and a Sophia Brookes was christened in St Andrew, Pershore on 1 July 1803 (again LDS site).

Again thank you for your time and efforts.

Trish

Hi Phil
Thank you so much for your kind offer. However I only know their approximate birth years and the fact that they were alive in the 1861 Census.
Thomas Davis was about 60 in the 1861 Census
Sophia Davis was about 58 in the 1861 Census.

I have not been able to find either of them in the 1871 Census so they could have died between 1861 and 1871 so Thomas was between 60 and 70 years and Sophia was between 58 and 68 years.

The last location for them was Red Hill, London Road, St Peters Worc

Cheers and thank you

Lancashire / Where did Agnes go?
« on: Saturday 30 March 13 23:59 GMT (UK)  »
Hello
Hope someone is able to help me find out what happened to Agnes.
Am trying to track one of my grandfather's sisters. Here are the details:
Name: Agnes Burrows
DOB: 5 April 1870 in Liverpool
Baptised: RC (St Francis Xavier)
Both parents dead by 1889 and in 1891 Census is living in Everton with her older brother, Joseph and younger sister, Martha.
She is no longer with them in 1901 Census.
Can't find a marriage or death for her between 1891 and 1901.
Any suggestions?
Kind regards
trish

Hi Allan

Thank you for your suggestions and sorry for the slow response from me. I understood the father (of Frederick and Henry), William Moyses, died during or before 1858. There is another brother Richard Moyses who married in Hackney, London in 1858 and the marriage record indicates father William is dead.

Cheers

Good clever thinking Heywood!

I know Frederick Moyses married in Birkenhead in 1867.His wife, Ann Edwards, was born in Cheshire. It is odd that I can find neither Frederick nor Henry Moyses in the 1861 Census. Mind you, it is a "difficult" name for family history research because it is recorded or transcribed incorrectly quite often (eg Moye/Moyser/Mages/Moses)

Thank you for your input. It is kind of you.

Hi Garstonite
Thank you for helping! Edward Moyses is my grandmother's brother. He was the only one of my grandmother's siblings to marry a Catholic (an Irish girl, Mary Burns) but the rest of the family were
C of E.
Robert "Moysey" and James Moyses are, as far as I know, not related. But it is puzzling as to why the Moyses brothers moved from London to Lancashire.
Thank you for the link  - I was not aware of this site and it will no doubt prove useful for the occasional Catholics who appear in my tree!

Have a great day Garstonite!

Hi Radcliff
Yes - that is the correct family! And I am thrilled because the two baptisms are of two of my grandmother's brothers and I have not been able to find this information - and it gives addresses as well!

Thank you so much Radcliff - you are a star!:)
