Wow that's amazing! I had a genealogist look into the family in 2012 and he found out that he had stolen a cake of soap and then tried to sell it on but the lady he tried to sell it to shopped him in. Hope that is correct bit not a hundred percent sure.

Think it was the elder. The first trial for stealing sheep happened in 1842 I think and he was jailed for a year after that. Then he stole the cake of soap and was due in court but outlawed. I dont know what year that was.

Well Annette, potentially it's because he didn't turn up to a court hearing and was outlawed and although I know about this and have court papers etc I cant be 100% sure that this is right. I hope it is though! First criminal in the family, and I'm Australian!!

Hello All, I have hit the wall with my great grandparents! I am sure about Elizabeth McCloy 1871-1963 and James McKay 1871 - ? were my great grandparents as my mum remembers. They married in 1903. James parents were Sutherland McKay and Janet Wilson. And then Sutherlands line goes cold. Could be Robert McKay and Jane ...... but I am really stumped. Any help appreciated!
