Dear poppies

I am the great grand daughter of Bridget Walsh who was the sister of Catherine Walsh that you are looking for.

Would you be able to give me any information about Bridget and her family as I have no relations to ask.

Many Thanks

Hi Brooke and Poppies

It would be best if you continue your conversation on the PM system at this point.
The information you are exchanging may effect the privacy of living people.

Brooke, you need to take your personal email address off the board to avoid spamming and other unwanted attentions

Hi Sue,
Oops! In my haste to reply to Brooke I completely overlooked the personal info that was being shared! Haven't been on here much so have to make sure I think about that in future . Thanks !!

Could you please possibly email me the articles?
Brooke.thorncroft.photography@hotmail.com

Hi Brooke,
I've sent you an email with some info. Don't worry, I had no idea when I first started doing the family tree and had to play around with it a lot before I got the hang of it!  :P

I can help... Somewhat, but I need help as well.
What is your husbands name?
My grandmother is Nancye who is the daughter of Francis Evans Carberry and Janet Rorrison Turnbull ( we called them Grandma and Grandpa Frank)
His mother Jane Britan Carberry (Holz) packed up and left her six children with her husband William John Carberry in roughly 1927.
It was suspected that she may have changed her name (not legally)  and that is why she was never found and has no further records.

Hi Brooke!
My husband is Graeme Carberry, he is the son of John, Nancye's brother. John died in 2004. I remember Kenny, he is Graeme's cousin. I have put a lot of the family information on my ancestry family tree which is public so you are welcome to go and have a look at it and copy anything you need. I found a few articles in the Kiama Independent (on Trove) that were about the family property in Jerrarra and about Frances Carberry's grandfather who owned the property. There is also an article about Michael Carberry's wife who's family was one of the first to settle in Kiama. Feel free to contact me at kyliemcarberry@hotmail.com
Jane is a mystery isn't she. Does Nancye know anything about what happened to her.
Thanks for the reply!  :) :)

Janet Butler Carberry (2nd child) did marry Arnold James Payne and went on to have children.
William (Jane and williams son) died of meningitis.

My father Kenneth was the son of Nancye, grandson of Francis Evans Carberry. He died in 2002. I am trying to find out more about the family history...

There are 4 Jane's born Australia 1893+/- 2, in US in 1930. All have a middle initial and none of them are B! :(
Also the immigration years are too early and or the parents are born in the wrong country. 1940 census doesn't have one either.

Yeah had a feeling it might be tricky! Thanks for looking :)

Thank you and yes Janet Butler Carberry is Jane and William's second child. Their children were Francis, Janet, Hazel, Heather, William and Charles. I noticed that two trees have Wollongong but not sure where they got thy info. Also saw the USA ones and was curious.

Hi everyone
On researching my husband's family tree I discovered from his mother that his great--grandmother disappeared. Intrigued, I try to search for at least if there was any record of a death for this lady that might fit her details, but to no avail. Her name is Jane Briton Carberry (nee Holz, which originated as Holzenhauser) and she was born in Cobbity, NSW in 1893, the eldest and only girl of 8. Her parents were Harry Evans Holz (1874-1924) and Janet Rankin (1866-1931). The children were born all born at Cobbity. She married William John Benson Carberry (1877-1949) in 1912 at Jamberoo, where William's family lived. They had six children the last being born in 1922. My husband's grandfather was the first born in 1912 his name was Francis Evans Carberry. According to my mother-in- and the BMD NSW William died in 1949 in Wollongong. I did a name search on the cemeteries for him and a matching one comes up at Woronora. For Jane I have searched cemeteries and the BMD of both NSW and Victoria. Any guidance of where else I can possibly look is very much appreciated. Many thanks  :)

Australia / Re: WALSH Esther, possible lived in Penrith or Bathurst
« on: Monday 18 March 13 23:24 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there,

Still looking for Esther, trying to find a back door way to her at the moment ….

Passenger List :  Thomas Arbuthnot, arrived 2/3 Feb 1850,
Patrick WALSH, aged 27,  a Farm Labourer, of Burton Hall, Kildare, Roman Catholic, could Read and Write
Bridget WALSH, aged 27, his wife, a Dairywoman, of Castle Dermott, Kildare, Roman Catholic, could not Read or Write
Their two sons, of Castle Dermott, Kildare,  John aged 3 and James an Infant.

Patrick’s parents were John and Sarah, and they were already living in Penrith NSW     Bridget’s parents were William and Sarah Lawler, both still living in Castle Dermott.

Have you tried the NSW State Records Office website, particularly the Assisted Passenger digitised lists?

http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/state-archives/indexes-online/indexes-to-immigration-and-shipping-records  if you already know year of arrival and ship’s name

http://srwww.records.nsw.gov.au/indexes/searchform.aspx?id=9  search by passenger name, then go to the above link when you have located the ship and year for a particular passenger’s name

Cheers,  JM

Thanks for those links JM. I did some searching but only came across Patrick and Bridget Lawler as you've listed above. I was hoping there was maybe an Esther on the ship as an infant but no luck. I read through the info again from my aunt and she wrote that after Bridget died Patrick re-married, but the name of the new wife was unknown. I had a look at the ancestry site and it seems a few descendants of Patrick's new wife had trees. Her name would seem to be Sarah Curry and they had five children together, three boys, two girls (according to these other trees). My aunt wrote that they didn't know these new family members well. There name were Ada Mary, Annie, Hugh, John and Thomas John. Patrick appears to have died not long after the youngest child was born in 1874. I haven't checked BMD of these yet, this is info off ancestry, so maybe not accurate.  :) :)
