Herefordshire / Richard Vaughan born Brilley @1785
« on: Saturday 16 August 14 19:42 BST (UK)  »
Hi
My GGG Grandfather was born in Brilley about 1785 according to the census records for 1841 & 1851.
I've come to a dead end and would appreciate any help from anyone with access to baptism records for this period.:-
Richard Vaughan who married Anne Wyer in Titley in 1816
Many Thanks

Hi
Thanks Carole & Margaret for your replies.
Margaret - I can't thank you enough.
Your information has given me a chance to move on.
I hope that I'm able to help someone else in the same way.
Gill

Hi Carole
Thanks, I know that, however understand she was born in Ashley

My GGG Grandmother was Martha Timson born @1809 in Ashley, in 1832 she married Thomas Plowright. Going forward I have lots of info but am unable to trace her birth & therefore her parents.
If anyone has access to baptism records of St Mary's church for this period I would appreciate any help.
Thanks Gill

Hi
Carole & Derek thanks for your replies.
I can add a little more info.
By 1841 both Henry & Hannah were in London - Henry in Marchelsea prison and Hannah living at Rathbone Place with children.(The address given on Henry's bankruptcy).
My GG Grandfather was John Goodall born in Manchester @ 1822, so I'm not really sure whether I'm looking for a Goodall or a Beardsley, but I'm assuming that either way Hannah was his mother.
John was also living in London in 1841, working as an apprentice in the same trade as his father. I also have the record of his marriage in London which clearly shows that the same Henry was given as his father.
I've also seen the marriage records of other children living with Hannah in 1841 which show the same Henry as father.
I've not been able to trace a birth record for John or find anything about him since the census in 1851.
It's only recently that I have found this record of marriage in Duffield so was hoping to find out more about Hannah and follow that path.
Thanks again
Gill

Hi
My GGG Grandfather was Henry Goodall born in Staffordshire in 1799.
His wife was Hannah Beardsley, who I think was born in Derbyshire.
I believe they were married in Duffield on 28 Aug 1822 (according to England Marriages on Family Search).
If anyone has anymore information about this marriage (witnesses) it would give me a pointer about Hannah, as there are several Hannah Beardsleys' in Derbyshire during this period. Census records show that she was born @1800.
Any help would be welcome
Thanks
Gill

Hi K
Many thanks for your further help, I'll certainly follow up on that one.
As you say the names may indicate a link.
Despite the fact that the census records have always shown that Hannah was born in Blo Norton I've never been able to find anyone who fits the bill.
Hannah & Nathan had a son John born 1837 so again maybe a link.

Thanks again

Gill

Hi
Suz thanks for your welcome and your info.
I'm amazed that you've been able to come up with so much in a short time.
I've been banging my head against a brick wall for a couple of years about John.
I do have the records about Henry's bankruptcy and have the census records for 1851 & 1871 but missed 1861.
Henry was born 1799 in Hamstall Ridware mother Martha Goodall (no father)
I didn't think to look in 1841 at the Marylebone address to see who was still living there.
You have given me a starting point to look at siblings for John so maybe gather more information.

I hope that at some point I might be able to give the same help to others.

Many Thanks
Gill
