Gosh, all I know is from the 1851 England Census, that she was born in Londonderry.

Thank you both for that information.   Do you know how I search the Irish records to find Arabella's baptism in Londonderry?

Hi Tina

She was married (1824 Bolton-le-Moors) to Thomas Rothwell by that time and living in 71, Oldfield Road, Salford.  The name looks like Isabella on the census page.

Thanks

I'm not sure how to start searching for my ancestor Arabella Leech.  Census 1841 and 1851 have her born in Ireland, but she is in Lancashire at that time.   Any suggestions where I could find her birth/baptism details and those of her parents?

Many thanks

I've got a bit of a mystery.  My GG Grandfather, Charles Pascoe travelled on the Sam Cearns leaving London in Aug 1869.  I have his diary for the voyage.  I'm missing the last month of the journey and when the ship docks in Sydney, his name is NOT among the passengers or crew.  Any thoughts about what happened?

I know he left Sydney in Oct 1870 on the Commissary, bound for London, but can find no trace of his arrival or location in Australia.  He died on the way back and I have his will from the captain of the Commissary

Many thanks

Herefordshire Lookup Requests / Emma Hill b. 1811ish Hereford/Monmouth border
« on: Sunday 16 February 14 01:50 GMT (UK)  »
I think Emma Hill may be the daughter of William & Elizabeth Hill (m. Langarren 1798).  In her census returns places of birth are listed as: 1841 - Monmouthshire, 1851 - Brwnwin (Bryngwyn?).  I have checked all the Monmouth baptisms available and now think she must have been baptised in Herefordshire.  There is a baptism at The Leigh, Gloucestershire, but its not her.

She may be the sister of Rowland Hill (b. about 1813), whose baptism I am also missing.

I have searched FreeReg, Familysearch, FindMyPast, Ancestry, DustyDocs, Forest of Dean.   Is there any way to search the original Herefordshire pages (or copies of them)?

Thanks

Monmouthshire Lookup Requests / Re: St Arvans parish records for 1700-1800

Thank you Rowley & Syljun for those thoughts.

Does anyone ever change their Christian name in your experience?

I think the only way to check the Charlotte/Clarissa possibility is to see the original record, which I assume will be at Ebbw Vale.   When I next come over to UK, I may try to get there.   Or do you know if anyone goes into the records office, who lives nearby?

Appreciate your efforts.

Hi.   I'll give the google route a go too.   Sometimes good things pop up where you least expect them.

Thank you again for all your help and suggestions.   And good luck with your hunting.

Best wishes

Thanks for trying.  What do you mean by off the page?   Could there be some records missing?

I wonder if some were missed off.
