Many thanks again. I have recorded those names and dates. I will ask among family members re the different name for his mother ( as in could it be a possibility). Do you know of any way to look for his fathers occupation?

Also just reread my last message and his age on arrival in Australia would have been 37. I have just been copying what was sent to me without thinking about it. Again sorry!

Oh no, I just reread my message and his year of birth should be 1817 , 1871 is his year of death. I am so sorry to have wasted your time.

Thank you both for the reply's. We have 1854 as the year he came to Australia and that he was 44. Also have that he married in Australia so we presume he came alone. No sibling's are known at this stage. Also have that he arrived on the ship "Parsee"

Thank you for replying. The information we have is from his death cert.. It says he was born on the Isle of Man around 1871, his father was John Robinson a doctor of medicine and his mother was Anne Lyons. So far that is all we know.

Hello,
I am a G'G'gdaughter of John Crawford's. His daughter Rosa (Rosina) was my G'Gmother. She married Michael Scully (also a lighterman)  and their son Peter came to Australia and settled in Qld where I live. I dam not at home at the moment so do not have my paperwork to hand. i am sure you will get a reply from "Tigge" who is a descendant of John's son William. The surname of John's wife was Curley. John was born in 1795 in Ireland.
I would love to hear more about your ancestor's here in Australia. A personal message on this site is a good way to communicate. Hoping to hear  from you
                                                                  Regards,

I'm a 3x great granddaughter of John Crawford. His daughter, Elizabeth, born 1838 came to Australia in 1857 and married Robert Harland. They had eight children. Her sister, Catherine, came later to Australia and married a Thomas Chicken. They lived on the goldfields of Ballarat in Victoria. Elizabeth died in 1921. Does anyone have an accurate surname for their mother, Elizabeth? Family notes record "Carley." I have not been able to locate any baptismal records for John, nor his parents' names.
