Completed Census Requests / Birthplace Details For non-UK people on 1911 census?
« on: Thursday 14 May 09 19:04 BST (UK)  »
Hi, Does anyone know how detailed the birthplace details are on the 1911 for people born outside the UK? I have an Irish great grandmother who is only listed as born Ireland on the 1901 - is the 1911 likely to be more specific? Anyone had experience of this?

Thanks :)

The genealogy website/database of the Mormons. Not all Sussex villages are covered but Rusper baptisms are there for the period you're researching. You could also try a another post requesting a look up in the Sussex Marriage Index for a Joseph Humphry to a Jane pre-1823.

Just a suggestion but on your next post try and put the name of the family and info you're looking for etc in the title - It'll help your post to stand out a bit more  :)

Berkshire Lookup Requests / Thomas Smith NOBLE - 1841 look up
« on: Tuesday 12 May 09 15:15 BST (UK)  »
Could someone take a look in the 1841 and try and find...

Thomas Smith NOBLE bc. 1780 Yeaton/Yatton?, Somerset, carpenter, inmate of the Windsor Workhouse aged 71 from the 1851 census. In 1851 he was widowed but in 1841 he might have a wife?

I'm trying to connect him with with these Windsor-born Smith Nobles

Chas Smith NOBLE b.1824 Windsor, carpenter, (have census etc from 1861 onwards) and

John Smith NOBLE, b.1823 Windsor, police constable then sergeant  (have from 1851 onwards)

There is also a possible daughter Eliz. Smith NOBLE who got married 1843 but of her I know nothing. Obviously Chas Smith Noble's marriage cert would cough up the father's name, but I'm trying to avoid spending any more money on certs! Wink

If anyone can see Charles or John in 1841 that would be a bonus  :)

Many thanks

Hi Liz, Yes I have the (possible) sons, Chas Smith NOBLE (1861 onwards) and John Smith NOBLE  (1851 onwards) and their marriages, kids ect. The daughter (if that's what she is) Eliz. Smith NOBLE got married 1843 but of her I know nothing. Trying to connect the Thomas Smith NOBLE bc. 1780 Yeaton/Yatton?, Somerset, widowed, carpenter, inmate of the Windsor Workhouse aged 71 from the 1851 census with these Windsor-born Smith Nobles. Obviously Chas Smith Noble's marriage cert would cough up the father's name, but I'm trying to avoid spending any more money on certs! ;)

btw Chas Smith NOBLE was a carpenter and John Smith NOBLE a police constable in 1851, Sergeant by 1861 in Windsor

Hi, Could someone take a look in the 1841 and see if they can find...

Thomas Smith Noble b. abt 1780 and possibly a wife, Elizabeth?? b. abt the same time.

I think this is the Thomas listed in 1851 in Windsor Union Workhouse, Berks but the family seem to have drifted to and fro between Gloucestershire and Berks..

Many thanks

ADDED....Might be a daughter Elizabeth plus sons John b. 1823 Windsor and Charles b.1824 Windsor

p.s The Thomas listed in 1851 was a carpenter, born Somerset

Oxfordshire Lookup Requests / Re: George Sidney READ - 1841/51 look up

Hi, yes he's the practising barrister in 1861 with sister Mary in Salisbury.  I have his family living in The Close, Salisbury in 1841 and in Kensington, London in 1851. Information I've found indicates he passed his "matric. June 10th 1841 aged 16 " whatever that is, then "Bridgman Exhib." again I've no idea what that was either, and gained his M.A. in 1843 at Queen's College Oxford.
