Cambridgeshire / Re: YOULES Family

While I was looking for information for my sister I came across a Sarah Youles born abt 1855 in Thorney Cambs. She married a William H Gotobed in 1883 in the North Witchford district. William was a butcher. They lived in Somersham Huntingdon St Ives. Their second son had the names Youles for his middle name.
The second son referred to was probably Herbert Youles Gotobed, he moved to Liverpool to take over the business of Woodruff & Parren Ltd a wholesale fruit merchant in Liverpool’s North Market. He changed his name to Godbert. He became a President of the Liverpool Fruit Trade, he had two sons one of whom was killed in WW2.
I worked for this company 1959/66. I’m interested if anyone has in any further information on H Y Gotobed, likewise I can provide more about him.

Many thanks, Radcliff, and Louisa May, I think you have put me on a different and possibly correct path re John Rimmer 1808. His father in law had an illegitimate child to an Esther Large, I know he was paying a maintenance order to her. I have him from a different parentage, e.g. Richard Rimmer so it need thinking about. There many Rimmers, unfortunately they all lived in the same areas.

Cheers,

John

Sorry Radcliff, My chronology is out, Ellen would have been his Aunt if in fact she was related.
His father was John Rimmer b. 1808, I am unsure of his parents or siblings.

John

PS I'm logging off till tomorrow, it's 9.30 pm here and I start work in the wee small hours.

Hi Radcliff,

This is my first use of Rootschat! I'm not sure if I'm replying correctly, as the help, line is down.
Anyway, my GGGrandfather's name was John Rimmer he was born 1949 in Whiston and I'm fairly sure his funeral was at St Mary's, Prescot.
Thanks for your help

John

My GGGrandfather died at Rainhill Lunatic Asylum in 1895. I'm trying to learn the circumstances under which he entered or was committed there. Does anyone know who I can contact.

Hi Bruce, I've just registered with Rootschat and I picked up on your kind offer. My ancestor John Drummond was born in Muthill around 1725. He married Elspeth Donaldsone.
I cannot confirm their DOB's or where Elspeth came from. If you could help me in this regard I would be greatly appreciative.

Cheers,

John Drummond, Sydney, aust.
