This is to Jessies Mum Sorry have had difficulty finding how to reply o a message. If you live in Victoria Australia and there is a way to exchange emails safely then we can share information on the Arnotts that came to Australia. Have not had an satisfaction from military records in Scotland for William but it's along time ago Regards Robert Wilson

Thank you GR2 and ev. I am finding the family research quite a challenge with quite a few cross marriages with the same names ie cousins marrying and same name spouses but will try to follow your directions. Thank you both. My Arnotts came to Australia in 1855. I live in Victoria, Australia. If I plan a trip to Kinross shire, are there good local family research societies?

My name is Robert Newton Wilson and I am researching my paternal grandmother's family. I have traced back to a Major William Arnott 1660-1695 who married a Janet Whyte in Auchmouty,Markinch,Kinross-Shire, Scotland. They had one child,William 1685-1721. Major William's parents were William and Catherine Burt. How do I start to research his military history?
Thank you for any help provided

Thank you so much for the location Billy and also to Gaffy and Ros for both your help and navigation tips on this service. I live in Myrtleford and shall correspond via my email Billy so we can meet up at the church. Have they made a display of the memorial Plaque? My father, Robert Leslie Wilson, whose father Fred was Roscoe's and Robert's brother would have been so proud. I met Roscoe when I was a young boy, he was very ill and bedridden but I will never forget the warmth and magnetism of the man.
Thank you all so much but I am curious Billy , who is the Rosie I saw when I first got onto this system? I know of no body in our family of that name and her statements are not correct regarding Robert or Roscoe

Thank you Ros
I have been researching my great Uncle for quite a while now and also his lost medals, including the Dead Man's Penny. I had a feeling that my other great Uncle, the one time Dean of St Paul's Melb, Rev Roscoe Wilson, had made some sort of dedication to his fallen brother...I often thought at St Paul's but then one of his earlier churches, perhaps St John's at Ivanhoe. Billy Anderson a member has the answer and I would love to share with all about my Great Uncle one of many who gave their life for us all

Robert Newton Wilson
