Wigtownshire / Re: John Hutchinson b. 1821 Newton Stewart, Penninghame, Wigtownshire

Thanks so much for the informative responses. All the info once John & Margaret Hutchinson reach Birkenhead, England has been previously verified. I still have relatives in Birkenhead, England and they have access to the actual certificates. That's how I know that Margaret Hutchinson was previously Binney (formerly Taylor). It is on the birth certificate for John George Hutchinson (their son, b. 1856 in Birkenhead. Note: I have Jr's marriage info, etc.).

I know John Hutchinson Sr. was born in Newton Stewart, Penninghame, Wigtownshire, Scotland from the 1861 UK England/Wales Census. His occupation on his son's birth certificate and on all the census is listed as "joiner" so that looks like a positive. I was amazed that several picked up a possible connection to a James Hutchinson, a mason. I had made this tentative connection myself as in the 1861 England/Wales census there is a James Hutchinson, mason, born in 1817 in Newton Stewart, living in W. Deby, Lancashire. He is listed as married but does not have his family with him. Elsewhere (can't quite remember where just now), I found James married to Mary [and I marked in my notes that her last name was Murray-not sure where I got this]. I noted that in the info provided, in 1861 (based on the 1861 Scotland Census) Mary Hutchinson is in Newton Stewart but her husband James is missing. Might he be in Lancashire for work?

In terms of Margaret Hutchinson - Binnie - Taylor, we know she was born in Glasgow, Lanarkshire from the 1881 England/Wales census. I found a marriage for a Margaret Taylor and William Binnie in Lanarkshire, Scotland in 1838. It is promising but I can't verify this is her. I also couldn't find out what happened to William.

I'm still struggling to find the parents of both John Sr. & Margaret [Taylor]. Common names are so hard to verify. In terms of John, I think the next move should be to try to find a John  & James Hutchinson together with the right birth dates & place.

Again, thanks so much for all your help. I truly appreciate it. ~Gillian

Wigtownshire / John Hutchinson b. 1821 Newton Stewart, Penninghame, Wigtownshire

Just joined - glad to be on board. I'm looking for any information about John Hutchinson, b. 1821 in Newton Stewart, Penninghame, Wigtownshire. All I know is that he married Margaret Taylor (b. 1821 in Glasgow, Lanarkshire). (We think she was formerly married - married name Binney or Binnie.) They apparently moved to Birkenhead, England as their son, John Hutchinson, was born there in 1856. Our family tree is stuck at this point and we are trying to find out the names of his parents. Any help would be hugely appreciated.
