Gloucestershire / William White

I am trying to trace what happened to a William (walter) White who married Ellen May
Welch in around 1918.  i have alot of information on Ellen May Welch who originated from
Berkshire.  However, by the time she had married William and had their first child they were
living in Kingswood, Bristol, Gloucester then.
They had three children together, Violet May White, born 1918, Joy White and Roy White born after.
William was dead by the time Violet was 6 years old.  Ellen married again, to an Oliver Buck and
went on to have several more children.
I am really keen to know what happened to William, Ellens first husband.  They lived in the
Kingswood area when Violet was born in 1918. I cant find any burial records for him.
Has anybody any suggestions?

Victor, thank you very much for confirming that for me.  I am now on the right track, this
clarifies that Jane wasnt the Jane I have been looking for after all.  With the fantastic help of
others on the forum I have now traced the correct Jane, and found out alot more new information! thanks all! :)

Will get back to you if no joy, and will get on with ordering a birth certificate for one of their

And does it look like Janes maiden name could of poss been Mealing or Stickler then?
Still doesnt make sense why in a late census, Stickler Haskins is listed as Head of house,
Janes husband I assumed.   If Stickler was her name, why would John have that name.
All a bit confusing!  I do know what we think Jane and John died late 1890's.  They were
buried we think in Downend, Bristol, church called christchurch, then probably known as
the district of Mangotsfield.

Gosh this is becoming very interesting now because in a later census, the list includes all the
children, Jane Haskins, the mother, and Sticker Haskins as the head of house, whom Ive always
assumed was John, but wondered why he had suddenly changed his name from John Haskins to
sticker haskins.  I thought stickler was a nickname.  Im rather confused still, who had the name Prater, and does that mean people had double barrelled names back then, you must be right, he must
of dropped that name afterwards.  This is all new information for me, I am very very grateful,
and very interested to find all this, as I have been tracing John and Jane and their children for over a year, and seems I have found out more this morning through yourself, than all the other paying websites I have been using!  Where do I find the info you are finding?!!!

Sorry what does the Prater mean?  Is that another name?  listed on the info you just sent me
for Sarah Haskins, father John Haskins Prater, and mother Jane Haskins Prater?
This is new to me!
