That is all very helpful. Many thanks!
Any sign of a marriage for Pheby/Phoebe and John Isted/Histed?

Sussex Lookup Requests / Help Please Histed/Isted
« on: Saturday 31 March 18 15:59 BST (UK)  »
Hello,

I've hit a wall with a John Isted/Histed of Hastings. I have him on the 1871, 1881, 1891, 1901 and 1911 census as born Heathfield about 1834, and Married to Pheobe Isted, then Emily Histed, always living in Hastings. He seems to have added the 'H' to his name between marriages, but I may be wrong. I can't find marriage record for Phoebe and John Isted, or any record of his parents/birth. All help welcome!!  :)

Thanks Wiggy.
I think that the woman with the specs (2nd photo) is the same as this woman (taken approx 1918). I'd be keen to get a 2nd opinion though, as it does seem a very different style of picture, if it is only a few years after the other.  :)

Thanks Gadget,
I think that the first picture is my gg grandparents and the second picture is their daughter (my great grandmother), but the timelines seem a little off.
My gg grandmother (Mary Ann Hooton, nee Hawkins - 1864-1945) had 9 children between 1887 and 1909. The first photo could, potentially, be an image with her youngest 2 children (born 1904 and 1909), if taken around 1915 - but neither of the adults look like 50yr olds to me.
The second photo is, I believe, their eldest daughter. If taken around 1910, then she would have been 22yrs old. However, the photo seems to me to be more formal/staged and therefore appears older - I have very limited knowledge of the era.
 :)

Thanks Gadget.
If this was taken around 1915 ish, and if these are the people that I believe them to be, then the adults in this photo would both have been about 50yrs old when this picture was taken.
I'm not very good at aging people - does anyone think that this is possible?
Would anyone be able to approximate the ages of these adults, given the era?
 :)

I should have added that i suspect that it was taken between 1900 and 1920, but a more precise date would be very helpful - if possible.
All help welcome!
 :)

Hello,
I believe that this is a photo of my gg grandparents, but can't be sure. A date range would help very much. I think that the photo was probably taken in London.
Thanks.

Kent Lookup Requests / kent workhouse records
« on: Sunday 06 March 16 15:03 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

I'm looking for workhouse records from 1800s, but I'm not sure whether any are available apart from London.
I have had difficulty finding information on the parents of my 3rd great-grandfather William Thomas Kitto b.1811 d.1869. I believe his parents were William Kitto b.1785 and Ann Trindall b.1788 (m.1807, st pauls, deptford, Kent)
I have another record for a child born to them in 1814 Sarah Elizabeth Kitto, whose baptism record from 'Deptford, St. Paul, England', shows their 'Abode' as 'workhouse'.

I can find no further record for Sarah Elizabeth Kitto or Ann Kitto beyond the 1814 baptism, so I was hoping that workhouse records from Deptford, Kent, might be available somewhere?

All help welcome! :)
