Staffordshire / Passmore family - 1891 Census
« on: Thursday 08 May 14 07:44 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone,

Im struggling to find a 1891 census for members of my family.
I have them in 1881 at 11 Musk Lane. Joseph Passmore as head and Hannah as his wife living with children William, Mary, Isaac, Abraham, Thomas & Elizabeth.

In 1901 they were still at 11 Musk Lane with children Elizabeth, James, Joseph & Minnie.

Any help would be great! :)

Definitely Woodfield not Woodhouse  :)

Yes sorry Woodfield! It's the awful auto-correct on my phone! Such a nightmare!

Can you give the Census entries where you have him in 1891 and 1901,again he is not showing
on Ancestry too readily as you describe?

Regards
William Russell Jones.

1891 Census shows Thomas & Sarah living with children James, Joseph, Alfred, Thomas, Arthur & Beatrice. Thomas snr, Joseph & Alfred were all farm labourers and Thomas jnr was a colliery bandsman. They resided at 6 Straits Green, Sedgley.

1901 Census shows widow Thomas as head of house with children Alfred, Thomas & Arthur. Thomas snr & Alfred were farm labourers and Thomas jnr & Arthur were iron safe makers. They resided at 6 Straits Green, Sedgley.

Who do you have as his parents in 1891 or 1901?He doesn't show up too readily as you describe.

Regards
William Russell Jones.

I have his parents as Thomas & Sarah Ann Woodhouse in 1891. In 1901 his father Thomas was down as a widow.

Hi
That's correct (I had Elizabeth as Lizzie but with few details)
His parents were Richard Caswell (c1854-c1921)) and Margaret Davis(c1864-1932)
Joseph was my Great-Uncle. I was born in Bloomfield Rd, Tipton which my grandmother (his sister)rented from him.

Joseph Jr (1922) married Dorothy Rea (c1915)
I don't know much about Lizzie except my mother used to take me to visit when I was a kid and she lived down near Owen St.

Are we related ?

We are related.. Joseph was my 2nd great grandfather. His daughter Elizabeth was my great grandmother. She died back in 2007 and was an amazing woman. I did not know her parents. I think my mother did. We all live in Tipton, at the moment were the other side of owen street by Locarno primary school.

Hi James,I expect the website you got the invoice from was Old west Bromwich Photos,as I spotted the invoice as well, but did you know there was a forum on that site, where you can ask your questions? Also, there is a website,www.wikitree.com.It lists a Charles Vowles and his family. There was a brother,Thomas. The adverts I found say Vowles Bros, who was the other brother?Glenys

The other brother was G Vowles but i haven't investigated who he was yet as I'm still researching my Caswell roots. However at Sandwell Archives i read a news article about Leonard Vowles passing away who was a owner of the foundry also, this was roughly 50's i think, it was after Dennis had died.

If you wouldn't mind! :) I haven't been to West Bromwich in a while as I'm always at Dudley Archives!
