Hi Jan
There is a will on line (can't remember the site off hand) for William Wase who was the son of Benjamin & Grandson of John that specifically mentions Sally/Sarah Peak as one of his heirs. There is also a will of her aunt Alice Wase, a spinster, who also moved to Lapley.

Just found a reference for a John Wase at the Middle temple where he was admitted in 1684 & called to the bar in 1691. It describes him as the son & heir of William Wase gent. of Fankelow, Cheshire. I think they mean Hankelow which isn't far from the Shropshire border. I've also come across a reference to a document at Shropshire archives where Dorothy Wase (wife of John of Shrewsbury )gives up some land at Hankelow for some at Coleham Shrewsbury.  This has to be our John?

I've seen the actual parish record for Dorothy stocking marrying at Much Wenlock & I'm not convinced it says John Wase, It's more like John Wyre. It gives his parish as Stoke St Milborough which is quite a distance from Stoke on Tern where he had Benjamin.

Hi there,
Only joined recently & came across your research.
Sarah  Wase/Peake was my 4Xgreat grandmother. I am descended via William, Thomas & Mary Jane Peake.

I too have been looking for her baptism without success. However the fact that she was John Fletchers God daughter interested me. It seems that he (Fletcher) regularly wrote to a William Wase of Madeley.
I found William's will online. He leaves some money to his deceased son John's son (also John) & to "each of his remaining children, Nicholas, Joseph, Sarah Peake (!!!) & Ann Ward".
I can only find baptisms for John 1767 & Nicholas bap 1789 but born 1770!. So it appears they may all have been baptised much later than normal.
Hope this is of interest.

Thanks for replying & the welcome
Ann & Elizabeth are Mary Ann's daughters, presumably by Charles Jones, who she later married.
So unfortunately they are another dead end :'(

I'm really struggling to find this families Cheshire roots.
They appear in the 1841 census (& all later ones) in Wolverhampton. The children's birth place is taken from the census.
John born about 1802 Sandbach married Sarah born about 1800 Sandbach Heath
they had John b. about 1826 in Sandbach
Mary Ann was born about 1827 in Sandbach
Anna or Maria  was born about 1829 in Sandbach
Ellen was born about 1831 in Sandbach
Samuel was born about 1833 in Horblet Heath
Rachael was born about 1836 in Horlbet Heath, Sandbach
Maria was born about 1839 in Sandbach
I have found some marriages for a John & Sarah, but none that really convinced me I'd found the right one. I certainly haven't found baptisms for the children or civil registration for Maria. I also have no idea where Horblet or Horlbet Heath is.
Any help would be gratefully received.
