My husband's grandfather died on 29 July 1918 and is buried in Rapiere Cemetery, Villemontoire, near Soissons, France.    This year we visited many memorials in France and also some cemeteries.   We visited Thiepval, where the cemetery consists of British soldiers at one side and the other side is for French unknowns.     The memorial is a vast structure and it's a very poignant place.    We recently discovered that my husband's grandfather's older brother died from wounds in 1916.    We have no knowledge of his resting place.

Hi

I am researching my husband's family tree.    His great great grandparents were John Tait Nimmo and Mary Kyle Nimmo.   I believe that the Nimmos you mention were their son James and his wife. Can you give me some dates of birth, etc?    My father-in-law used to visit his cousins in the Wallsend area.

Would be dleighted to share info with you.    This family did not have a lot of imagination when it came to naming their children!

Hi

Thanks for your reply.    I take it that John Tait Nimmo was the brother of William Tait Nimmo (my father-in-law's grandfather.    Sorry I'm new to this and don't know what pm means.   Can you help me?

Hi Wee Mammy

By my reckoning, John Tait Nimmo and Mary Kyle were also my husband's great great grandparents.   What was your grandmother's name and who were her mother and father?    I am just as confused as you over all the Christian names being the same - didn't think it would be such a puzzle when I started!

Hi

I am researching my husband's family tree (Nimmo).   I have a orbituary notice from an Australian newspaper re. William Tait (Tate) Nimmo who emigrated to a town called Bunbury around 1908.   He was born in Glasgow in 1882 and died at age 48.    I believe he was my father-in-law's uncle (his father was called John Archibald Nimmo and also born in Glasgow) and another brother called John Nimmo, who was born in the Parish of Row, Dunbartonshire and his parents were William Tait Nimmo and Christina Marshall Brock.   John Nimmo and Mary Kyle were the parents of William Tait Nimmo, who was married to Christina Brock.   Unofortunately, the family members all seem to have the same Christian names, so I am having difficulty reconciling who is related to who!    If anyone has any info that would help me I would be most grateful.
